Warwickshire (i/ˈwɒrᵻkʃə/ or /ˈwɒrᵻkʃɪər/) is a landlocked non-metropolitan county in the West Midlands region of England. The county town is Warwick, although the largest town is Nuneaton. The county is famous for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare, George Eliot, & Aleister Crowley. Commonly used abbreviations for the county are Warks or Warwicks.
The county is divided into five districts of North Warwickshire, Nuneaton & Bedworth, Rugby, Warwick and Stratford-on-Avon. The current county boundaries were set in 1974 by the Local Government Act 1972. The historic county boundaries also included Coventry and Solihull, as well as much of Birmingham.
For Eurostat purposes it is a NUTS 3 region (code UKG13) and is one of three counties that comprise the "Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire" NUTS 2 region.
The county is bordered by Leicestershire to the northeast, Staffordshire to the northwest, Worcestershire and the West Midlands to the west, Northamptonshire to the east and southeast, Gloucestershire to the southwest and Oxfordshire to the south. The northern tip of the county is only 3 miles (5 km) from the Derbyshire border. An average-sized English county covering an area of almost 2,000 km2, it runs some 60 miles (97 km) north to south. Equivalently it extends as far north as Shrewsbury in Shropshire and as far south as Banbury in north Oxfordshire.
Escape to the Country is a British daytime television programme which premieres on network BBC One and is repeated on BBC Two, and airs internationally in syndication.
There are two versions of each episode produced. A shorter 45-minute version with only 3 houses shown and a longer 60-minute version. The short version usually airs on BBC Two weekday afternoons (in the 15:00, 15:45 or 17:15 slots) and the longer on BBC One weekdays at 10:00 or BBC Two evenings at 19:00. Escape to the Country is often credited as being the forerunner of other shows such as A Place in the Sun. Repeat episodes are shown on Home.
Produced by Boundless, part of FremantleMedia UK and shown to air from 2002, the basic premise of the show is that a person/family wishes to relocate from their current city home to a more peaceful and rural retreat. It is then the job of the show's presenter to find four houses for the family to view via laptop computer in their own homes. The family must then choose two out of the four houses to go and view for themselves. In addition, there is also the option of choosing the presenter's 'mystery house'.

The Royal London One-Day Cup is a fifty-over limited overs cricket competition for the England and Wales first-class counties. It began in 2014 as a replacement for the ECB 40 tournament that ran from 2010 to 2013. The number of overs per innings has been increased to 50 to bring the competition in line with One Day Internationals. Unlike in the previous competition neither the national teams of Scotland or the Netherlands or the Unicorns cricket team, a team formed of players who do not have first-class contracts, will participate in the competition.
The competition consists of two groups of nine teams, from which the top four teams from each group progress to the quarter-finals. The groups are allocated randomly.
The competition contains two groups of nine. A random draw is used to place the teams into groups. The top four teams in each group progress to the quarter-finals. The participating teams are the 18 England and Wales first-class counties.
The NatWest t20 Blast is a Twenty20 cricket league in England and Wales run by the ECB from 2014. The league consists of the 18 first-class county teams divided into two divisions of nine teams each. This setup, which was first announced in November 2013, replaced the Friends Life t20 competition as the main domestic Twenty20 competition in England and Wales.
The semi-finals and final of the competition are played consecutively on the same day and at the same ground, at the end of the competition. During finals day, there is a mascot derby, which is a race between mascots representing all 18 counties. Finals day is usually held at Edgbaston.
There are 18 clubs competing for the t20 title. These clubs are initially split into 2 divisions (North and South), each containing 9 teams, for the group stage of the competition. During the group stage (from May to July) each club plays 6 of the other teams in the same division twice, once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents. They play the other two teams only once, for a total of 14 games each. Teams receive two points for a win and one point for a tie or if the match is abandoned. No points are awarded for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points, then net run rate. At the end of the group stage, the top four teams from each group enter the knockout stage.

Alistair Appleton is in Warwickshire, helping a couple of newly-weds find a country home with a budget of £550,000. But with a Cotswold stone cottage being found to be too petite and a 19th-century farmhouse too big a project, it proves hard to find the right combination.
A short tourism video about Kenilworth in Warwickshire. In centuries gone by, Kenilworth was at the centre of English power and politics due to the dominance of Kenilworth Castle. Its believed that one of the first English Parliaments was held here. Mentioned in the Doomsday book, the Castle was built soon after the Norman conquest of 1066. It was later destroyed in 1649 by Oliver Cromwells forces to ensure it could not be used as a fortress again. Today it is cared for by English Heritage and is regarding as one of the finest ruined castles in England. The town also has some significant local landmarks including The Abbey Barn, St Nicholas Church and Abbey Fields. See http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/towns for more details.

We had the privilege and honor of taking a walk through the little alleys of York, England with a truly great tour guide, Warwick Burton of YORKWALK. His native knowledge and sense of humor made this an wonderful experience. We walked through tiny lanes that most visitors would miss, but this became the highlight of the city for us. Thank you Warwick. After strolling through countless little lanes, we have a look at the Shambles in the narrow, quaint shopping lane becomes crowded during the day but was nearly empty when we walked through in late afternoon. The Shambles is so narrow they say it's possible for neighbors to reach out across the street from their second-story homes and shake hands. You'll probably come back to it several times as you wander through the town, but you will ...
