Lewis was born in 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Morgan State University and then completed a Master's degree at the New England Conservatory of Music under Gunther Schuller. He started out in jazz working with Tony Williams, George Russell, Bill Evans, Stanton Davis, and the Piano Choir. His first release was Live at Club 7, issued in 1971. He signed with Epic Records in 1976 and began releasing disco music, where he found commercial success. He had two charting singles, 1977's "On the Town/Saturday Night Steppin' Out/Do it With Style" (U.S. Club Play #36) and 1980's "Give Me Some Emotion" (U.S. Black Singles #41).
Lewis worked extensively as a session musician and studio arranger, for Herbie Hancock, Barry White, and others. He also produced for such artists as Gwen McCrae and Michael Wycoff. He later branched into soundtrack work for film and television, including for the films The Hearse (1980), Body and Soul (1981) and My Tutor (1983).

Lewis (Scottish Gaelic: Leòdhas, pronounced [ʎɔː.əs̪], also Isle of Lewis) is the northern part of Lewis and Harris, the largest island of the Western Isles or Outer Hebrides (an archipelago) of Scotland. The total area of Lewis is 683 square miles (1,770 km2).
Lewis is, in general, the lower lying part of the island, with the other part, Harris, being more mountainous. The flatter, more fertile land means Lewis contains the largest settlement, Stornoway, and three-quarters of the population of the Western Isles. Beyond human habitation, the island's diverse habitats are home to an assortment of flora and fauna, such as the golden eagle, red deer and seals and are recognised in a number of conservation areas.
Lewis is of Presbyterian tradition with a rich history, having once been part of the Norse Kingdom of Mann and the Isles. Today, life is very different from elsewhere in Scotland with Sabbath observance, the Gaelic language and peat cutting retaining more importance than elsewhere. Lewis has a rich cultural heritage as can be seen from its myths and legends as well as the local literary and musical traditions.
"Barbara Ann" is a song written by Fred Fassert that was first recorded by the Regents as "Barbara-Ann". Their version was released in 1961 and reached #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The most famous cover version was recorded in 1965 by the Beach Boys, issued as a single from their album Beach Boys' Party! with the B-side "Girl Don't Tell Me".
The Beach Boys recorded their version on September 23, 1965, five days after actress and model Barbara Anne Feldon made her first television appearance on Get Smart. Dean Torrence is featured on lead vocals along with Brian Wilson. Torrance is not credited on the album jacket, but "Thanks, Dean" is said by Carl Wilson at the end of the track.
The song entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart the week ending January 1, 1966. The week ending January 29, the song leaped from #15 to #2 and was in position to replace We Can Work It Out by The Beatles as the next #1 song. However, My Love by Petula Clark unexpectedly vaulted into the #1 position the week ending February 5, 1966. Consequently, "Barbara Ann" peaked at #2 in the US Billboard Hot 100 (#1 in Cash Box and Record World) and at #3 in the UK in January 1966. It also topped the charts in Germany, Switzerland and Norway. It was The Beach Boys' biggest hit in Italy, reaching #4.
Luis Fernando Vega (born June 12, 1965), better known as "Little" Louie Vega, is an American musician of Puerto Rican ancestry. He is one half of the Masters At Work musical production team. He was born to a musician family, as his father, Luis Vager, was a jazz saxophonist, and his uncle was singer Héctor Lavoe of the Fania All-Stars, and he started his DJ career spinning records at the age of 13.
By 1985, Louie who is cousin to Eric Vega, popular event creator and promoter in New York City began playing house and block parties in his local Bronx neighborhood of New York, as well as engineering and mixing. (Erasure's The Two Ring Circus features his earliest dabblings in the studio.) His first nightclub residency was at the Devil's Nest, in the Bronx, and later he moved to Roseland, Studio 54 and the Palladium in Manhattan. During the 1990s, Vega was playing at one of the most influential nightclubs for house music, The Sound Factory Bar. By the mid 1990s, the Masters At Work team had Vega spending less time behind the turntables and more time in the studio as part of the team's remixers.

Claimed first by the French, who settled mostly east of the Mississippi River, the region in which the city stands was ceded to Spain following France's defeat in the Seven Years' War. Its territory east of the Mississippi was ceded to the Kingdom of Great Britain, the victor. The area of present-day Missouri was part of Spanish Louisiana from 1762 until 1803.

Vega's EOL is the first signing of a new artist by the legendary Fania Records in decades. While Latin rhythms and Nuyorican soul sounds are among those heard here, they are only elements in EOL's attack, which includes African and Brazilian rhythms, jazz, soul, R&B;, gospel, and pop. Eclipse is exceptionally consistent over 17 tracks and 78 minutes. It's there in poet Ursula Rucker's reading of her "Balance in All Things" and the Afro-Cuban grooves in the killer "Canto Para Ochosi," whe...

“You all look beautiful, and it fills my heart to be able to celebrate with you and your families today.” Thus began remarks from Jenifer Lewis ’79 to Webster University graduates present at The Muny in Forest Park or watching online during the 96th commencement ceremony. (Jenifer's speech is at 49:00) Lewis was “home” again, returning during her alma mater’s centennial year to share inspiration and wisdom with those taking Webster into its next century. In this milestone year, 6,574 graduates from 110 countries are earning their degrees across the world. They celebrate through commencement ceremonies at Webster campuses on four different continents, the largest of which was the ceremony held in St. Louis on May 9. The Geneva, Leiden, Thailand and Vienna campuses were also among the cam...

In St. Louis, the commencement speaker Jenifer Lewis was one of five standouts from Webster’s history receiving honorary doctoral degrees to commemorate Webster’s 100th year: Lewis received the Doctor of Humane Letters for her outstanding stage and screen career and her many international community engagement efforts. This video highlights the other honorary degree winners: Sister Barbara Ann Barbato, who joined our faculty in 1963, received the Doctor of Pedagogy for her lifelong work as an educator. Dwight Bitikofer, an alumnus from 1978, received the Doctor of Letters for co-founding the Webster Kirkwood Times and for his work as an award-winning journalist. Helen Hagen, an alumna with two degrees – one in 1944 and another in 1982 — received the Doctor of Humanities for her work as...

MAKE ME BELONG TO YOU
Barbara Lewis
Darlin, I am whatever you make me
So baby, baby whatever you make me
Make me belong to you
I can be a beggar or a queen
You've got the power to make me anything
You've got the power so open your heart
It's up to you
Yeah, 'cause darlin' I am whatever you make me
So baby, baby whatever you make me
Make me belong to you
I can be a puppet on a string
You've got the power to make me anything
You've got the power so open your heart
It's up to you
Yeah, darlin' I am whatever you make me
So baby, baby whatever you make me
