Shark sightings confirmed off Great Ocean Road beaches

Sharks have been reported off three beaches along the Great Ocean Road and a surf beach on the Bellarine Peninsula, with three confirmed sightings in less than an hour.

Life Saving Victoria reports the sharks were spotted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter during flights around Aireys Inlet-Fairhaven, Anglesea and Collendina, near Ocean Grove.

"Emergency services have been notified. We suggest people download the VicEmergency app so they can stay up-to-date on any beach closures and other relevant information," a LSV spokesman said.

"People should also swim only at patrolled beaches when possible."

The first sighting was made near Collendina at 11.50am. It was followed by sightings off Anglesea at 12.30pm and Fairhaven at 12.43pm.
