Teacher Professional Development

Teacher Professional Development

Street Law's professional development programs help social studies teachers improve the way they teach about law and government. We prepare teachers to use proven methods to build students’ civic skills and improve students’ civic participation and knowledge.

teaching materials

Teaching Materials

Street Law develops textbooks, lesson plans, and learning activities that are relevant to students’ lives and delivered via interactive, student-centered teaching strategies. Our teaching materials not only help educators increase student knowledge about law and government, they help students develop the skills needed to use their newly acquired knowledge in their daily lives.

legal partnership programs

Legal Community Partnerships

Street Law's partnerships with the legal community tap the knowledge of lawyers, legal professionals, law students, and police officers to teach young people about law and careers in law, law enforcement, and government. These "community resource people" bring the law to life through real-world examples and experiences and serve as powerful role-models.

Legal Life Skills

These Street Law programs bring the legal and civic knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to thrive to youths in the juvenile justice/juvenile court systems and youths transitioning into adulthood (i.e., foster care youths, homeless youths, pregnant/parenting teens, and LGBTQ youths).

global law and democracy programs

Global Law and Democracy Programs

Street Law collaborates with law schools, civil society organizations, and government agencies around the globe to design and implement legally accurate, culturally competent programs that help cultivate a rule of law culture.
