Queensland weather: Christmas Day forecast

Queenslanders can expect humid, showery conditions for Christmas Day and well into next week, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

Those looking to tuck into a hot lunch won't find much relief on Christmas Day in Brisbane as humid conditions are expected to continue, with a possible morning shower and a top of 28 degrees.

Showers are expected across most of south-east Queensland for Sunday, with those further inland to experience temperatures in the low 30s.

While it will feel quite humid across most of Queensland, meteorologist David Grant said temperatures were about average for this time of year.

"The temperatures are about average for most places apart from the far western area that will be under a fair bit of cloud cover," he said.

"With the extreme that we are in at the moment, there is a bit of humidity in there, despite the temperatures being largely in the high 20s, it will be fairly humid the air, so it will still feel quite warm."

Those living in the state's western, northern and southern interior should look to move their Christmas festivities indoors on Sunday with BOM predicting rain and thunderstorms in those regions.

Those on the east coast can expect showers, but nothing that will dampen the Christmas spirit too much.

Mr Grant said rainfall is expected to continue well into next week.

Moving further into next week, we will have increased rainfall across western and far northern parts of the state but east coast will remain in showery," he said.
