The Curtin Student Guild has organised the Athena Music Festival, which takes place on 11 March to coincide with the week of International Women’s Day. Athena will be Australia’s first female-led music festival and boasts a mix of both successful female artists along with strong new Australian talent.
Acts on the lineup include Asta, Abbe May, Tired Lion, Nicole Millar and Mosquito Coast. The festival is also supporting local artists through having EMAS Curtin, (Electric Music Appreciation Society) DJs playing throughout the day.
Officer of the Women’s Department at Curtin Student Guild, Saraya Martin wants the festival to help make a change in the male-dominated music industry and support women’s equality across all sectors. “Athena Music Festival will give talented women artists a platform that is often not available to them and we are very excited to be bringing some amazing talent to Curtin,” she says.
