Fort Worth is the 16th-largest city in the United States and the fifth-largest city in the state of Texas. The city is located in North Central Texas and covers nearly 350 square miles (910 km2) in Tarrant, Denton, Parker, and Wise counties—serving as the seat for Tarrant County. According to the 2014 census estimates, Fort Worth has a population of 812,238. The city is the second-largest in the Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area (the "DFW Metroplex").
The city was established in 1849 as an Army outpost on a bluff overlooking the Trinity River. Today Fort Worth still embraces its Western heritage and traditional architecture and design.USS Fort Worth (LCS-3) is the first ship of the United States Navy named after the city.
Fort Worth is home to the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and several world-class museums. The Kimbell Art Museum, considered to have one of the best collections in Texas, is housed in what is widely regarded as one of Texas' foremost works of modern architecture designed by Louis Kahn and Renzo Piano. Also of note are the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, designed by Tadao Ando, and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, which houses one of the most extensive collections of American art in the world in a building designed by Philip Johnson. The city is also home to Texas Christian University, Texas Wesleyan University, University of North Texas Health Science Center, Texas A&M University School of Law, and many multinational corporations including Bell Helicopter, Lockheed Martin, American Airlines, Pier 1 Imports, Radio Shack, and others.
The Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area, the official title designated by the United States Office of Management and Budget, encompasses 13 counties within the U.S. state of Texas. Residents of the area refer to it as the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, DFW, or The Metroplex. It is the economic and cultural hub of the region commonly called North Texas or North Central Texas and is the largest land-locked metropolitan area in the United States.
The 2014 official estimate U.S. Census has the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex at 6,954,330, making it the largest metropolitan area in the South. During the 12-month period from July 2008 to July 2009, the Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area gained 146,530 new residents, more than any other metropolitan area in the United States. The area's population has grown by about one million since the 2000 US census. The Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington MSA is, by population, the largest metropolitan area in Texas, the largest in the South, the fourth-largest in the United States, and the eleventh-largest in the Americas. The metroplex encompasses 9,286 square miles (24,100 km2) of total area: 8,991 sq mi (23,290 km2) is land, while 295 sq mi (760 km2) is water, making it larger in area than the U.S. states of Rhode Island and Connecticut combined. It also has the fifth largest gross metropolitan product (GMP) in the United States, and approximately tenth largest by GMP in the world.
Channel 4 is a British public-service television broadcaster that began transmission on 2 November 1982. Although largely commercially self-funded, it is ultimately publicly owned; originally a subsidiary of the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA), the station is now owned and operated by Channel Four Television Corporation, a public body established in 1990, coming into operation in 1993. With the conversion of the Wenvoe transmitter group in Wales to digital on 31 March 2010, Channel 4 became a UK-wide TV channel for the first time.
The channel was established to provide a fourth television service to the United Kingdom in addition to the television licence-funded BBC's two services and the single commercial broadcasting network, ITV.
Before Channel 4 and S4C, Britain had three terrestrial television services: BBC1, BBC2, and ITV. The Broadcasting Act 1980 began the process of adding a fourth, and Channel 4, along with its Welsh counterpart, was formally created by an Act of Parliament in 1982. After some months of test broadcasts, it began scheduled transmissions on 2 November 1982.
KDFW, virtual channel 4 (UHF digital channel 35), is a Fox owned-and-operated television station serving the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex that is licensed to Dallas, Texas, United States. The station is owned by the Fox Television Stations subsidiary of 21st Century Fox, as part of a duopoly with MyNetworkTV owned-and-operated station KDFI (channel 27). The two stations share studio facilities located on 400 North Griffin Street in downtown Dallas; KDFW's transmitter is located south of Belt Line Road in Cedar Hill.
The station first signed on the air on December 3, 1949 as KRLD-TV; originally operating as CBS affiliate, it was founded by the now-defunct Dallas Times Herald newspaper, which also owned KRLD radio (1080 AM, and 92.5 FM, now KZPS). The first program ever broadcast on KRLD-TV on that afternoon was a college football game in which the Notre Dame Fighting Irish defeated the Southern Methodist Mustangs, 27-20. The station inherited the calls of its radio sister – which was named after Edwin Kiest, original investor and later owner of KRLD (AM), and the radio station's original owner, Radio Laboratories of Dallas. Channel 4 was the third television station to sign on in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, following Dallas-based KBTV (channel 8, now WFAA), which launched three months earlier in September 1949; and Fort Worth-licensed WBAP-TV (channel 5, now KXAS-TV), which debuted in September 1948.
Channel 4 News is the main news programme on British television broadcaster Channel 4. It is produced by ITN, and has been in operation since Channel 4's launch in November 1982.
Channel 4 News is the name of UK Channel 4's award-winning flagship evening news programme.
The news editor is Ben de Pear, appointed in July 2012. The programme is presented by Jon Snow, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Cathy Newman and Matt Frei and is on the air Monday to Friday from 19:00–19:55 on Channel 4 and at variable times on weekends. Alex Thomson is the chief correspondent.
Channel 4 News is among the highest-rated television programmes in the United Kingdom, winning a record five Royal Television Society Television Awards in February 2006. These included TV Journalist of the Year for Jon Snow, Home News Award for the Attorney General leak, and the International News Award for Congo's Tin Soldiers.
It won the News Coverage British Academy Television Award in 2004 and the 2004 International Emmy for the best news programme produced and aired outside the United States. Jon Snow won the Richard Dimbleby British Academy Television Award in 2005 for outstanding contribution to the world of news and current affairs.

While during two layovers I had some time to video the action at Dallas/Fort Worth airport from inside the terminals and on board the Skylink shuttle train between terminals. There's plenty of American Airlines action, including a brand new 777-300ER in the new livery (quite underwhelming) and oodles of MD-80s. A few foreign and cargo jumbo jets are tucked in to balance out the action. To end the video, I include some footage aboard an American MD80. All footage was filmed in March 2013.
United Airbus A319 Landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas with live ATC communication! This flight originated from Newark, NJ (KEWR). Our callsign was "United 275." I hope you enjoy! Just for reference: Gear down at 4:34. Touchdown is at 7:45. Filmed 08/02/12. Other info: ATC is provided on board several United Airlines flights. By hooking up some headphones to the armrest audio jack and turning up the volume, I was able to get Air Traffic Control communications with the pilots. I did not provide captions for ATC during landing as most transmissions were low volume and it is hard to copy word-for-word what was said. If you listen carefully though, you can still pick up the gist of what is going on. Another frustrating thing is that the audio cuts off when the...

Fort Worth once was a rough-and-tumble frontier town, dusty and lawless, home to the brave and the brawling, the soldier, the frontiersman, the outlaw. Today, the "City of Cowboys and Culture" is the one of the largest cities in Texas and the 16th-largest city in the United States. It's a destination shaped by a commitment to its downtown revitalization and urban renewal, a dedication to its world-renowned cultural arts district, rich pride in its Western heritage and a loyalty to major-league attractions.

Effigies of modern architecture rise like glass trees out of the downtown area. In 1841, it was simply a plan of 20 streets on the 256 hectares (640 acres) of south central America, claimed by a Tennessee lawyer, John Neely Bryan. Today, it is the ninth largest city in the USA, and including its western neighbour of Fort Worth, it is the nation's fastest growing metropolitan area. Thriving at the bottom edge of America's Great Plains, Dallas has embraced dreamers and entrepreneurs for the better part of two centuries. Big D, as it's affectionately called, merges Southern hos...

No speed limit
No red lights
Hear the squealin'
Of the tires
I'm living for
The thrill of speed
Coz nothing else
Feeds my needs
Race down the highway, right down in the middle
Let's hear the devil, playing his fiddle
Here comes the rebel, never be a quitter
Don't tell me, my life ends on a litter
Put the pedal to the metal
You are a faint, I am a winner
Put the pedal to the metal
You are the saint, I am the sinner
No stoppin' me
I'm too fast
My life is speed
What a blast
I'm living for
The thrill of speed
Nothing else
Fulfils my needs
Race down the highway, right down in the middle
Let's hear the devil, playing his fiddle
Here comes the rebel, never be a quitter
