A county seat is an administrative center, or seat of government, for a county or civil parish. The term is used in the United States, Canada, Taiwan and Romania. In the United Kingdom and Ireland, county towns have a similar function.
In the United States, counties are the administrative subdivisions of a state. Counties administer state law at the local level as part of the decentralization of state authority. In many states, state government is further decentralized below the county level by dividing counties into incorporated cities and towns and/or unincorporated civil townships, in order to provide local government services. The city, town, or populated place that houses county government is known as the seat of its respective county. Generally, the county legislature, county courthouse, sheriff's department headquarters, and hall of records, are located in the county seat, though some functions may also be conducted in other parts of the county, especially if it is geographically large.
YouTube is a video-sharing website headquartered in San Bruno, California, United States. The service was created by three former PayPal employees in February 2005. In November 2006, it was bought by Google for US$1.65 billion. YouTube now operates as one of Google's subsidiaries. The site allows users to upload, view, rate, share and comment on videos, and it makes use of WebM, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, and Adobe Flash Video technology to display a wide variety of user-generated and corporate media video. Available content includes video clips, TV clips, music videos, movie trailers and other content such as video blogging, short original videos, and educational videos.
Most of the content on YouTube has been uploaded by individuals, but media corporations including CBS, the BBC, Vevo, Hulu, and other organizations offer some of their material via YouTube, as part of the YouTube partnership program. Unregistered users can watch videos, and registered users can upload videos to their channels. Videos considered to contain potentially offensive content are available only to registered users affirming themselves to be at least 18 years old.
A county, abbreviated Cnty. (US) or Co. (UK and Ireland), is a geographical region of a country used for administrative or other purposes, in certain modern nations. The term is derived from the Old French conté or cunté denoting a jurisdiction under the sovereignty of a count (earl) or a viscount. The modern French is comté, and its equivalents in other languages are contea, contado, comtat, condado, Grafschaft, graafschap, Gau, etc. (cf. conte, comte, conde, Graf).
When the Normans conquered England, they brought the term with them. The Saxons had already established the districts that became the historic counties of England, calling them shires (many county names derive from the name of the county town with the word "shire" added on: for example, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire). The Vikings introduced the term earl (from Old Norse, jarl) to the British Isles. Thus, "earl" and "earldom" were taken as equivalent to the continental use of "count" and "county". So the later-imported term became a synonym for the native English word scir ([ʃiːr]) or, in Modern English, shire. Since a shire was an administrative division of the kingdom, the term "county" evolved to designate an administrative division of national government in most modern uses.
A seat is a place to sit, referring to the area sat upon as opposed to other elements like armrests.
A seat is also known as a bench, a chair, a chaise longue, chesterfield, a couch, a davenport or a settee.
The following are examples of different kinds of seat:
Salt Lake City, often shortened to Salt Lake or SLC, is the capital and the most populous city in the U.S. state of Utah. With an estimated population of 191,180 in 2013, the city lies at the core of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, which has a total population of 1,153,340 (2014 estimate). Salt Lake City is further situated within a larger metropolis known as the Salt Lake City-Ogden-Provo Combined Statistical Area. This region is a corridor of contiguous urban and suburban development stretched along an approximately 120-mile (190 km) segment of the Wasatch Front, comprising a total population of 2,423,912 as of 2014. It is one of only two major urban areas in the Great Basin (the other being Reno, Nevada), and the largest in the Intermountain West.
The city was founded in 1847 by Brigham Young, Isaac Morley, George Washington Bradley and numerous other Mormon followers, who extensively irrigated and cultivated the arid valley. Due to its proximity to the Great Salt Lake, the city was originally named "Great Salt Lake City"—the word "great" was dropped from the official name in 1868 by the 17th Utah Territorial Legislature. Home to the headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and Temple Square, Salt Lake City was historically considered a holy city by members of the LDS church; Brigham Young called it a "Kingdom of Heaven on Earth". Today, however, less than half the population of Salt Lake City proper are members of the LDS Church.

Today we are going to talk about bonding. And that’s not becoming like a super spy; we’re going to be talking about public finance and how counties pay for important items of infrastructure within their counties. In the last six years, County Seat has covered the Wild Horse issue four times. We are about to cover it again. It is important because the situation on the ground, no pun intended, has changed significantly. The numbers of horses continue to grow despite efforts to capture, manage, adopt, place, or otherwise eliminate horses from the range. None of them have been successful because in the eyes of many observers, the BLM’s hands are tied. We are going to once again look at some of the solutions with a very distinguished panel that has on-the-ground experience and expertise on the subject. I want to ask you a question what would Anaheim California be identified for if not for Disney Land? Could you think of Florida without oranges? How about Madison County without bridges? Today on the County Seat we are going to talk about iconic identifiers and how important they are to communities and what kind of challenges a community or a county faces if they are facing threats of losing what they are known for. Well we are going to start this and taking a look at something as a case study Tooele county home of the Bonneville Salt Flats, home of Miller Motorsports Park known as the fastest place on earth yet both of those identities are currently under threat. Today we are talking about secure rural school funding. What is it? Well it’s a federal program that is designed to compensate counties and school districts for taxes they don’t receive off of federal lands. See in most counties that have mostly private land, property tax fuels most school district operations. And it also fuels a lot of county operations. But when you’re in a county that has 80, 90, 95 percent federal lands, they need to receive funding from the federal government because they’re not going to get it in property tax, and that’s where this comes from. PILT, payment in lieu of taxes for the BLM. SRS, secure rural school funding for the forest service.
