In the year since the first July 25th International Day of Solidarity with Antifascist Prisoners in 2015, there has been a disturbing increase of Far Right activity worldwide. Every day brings news of some new wave of reaction—in the name of nationalism and security—which demonizes refugees and immigrants, stokes hatred for Muslims, and attacks LGBTQ and other oppressed groups fighting for their liberation and their very lives. The topic of prison caste system is often raised in the media in recent times, it is often discussed in connection with the political prisoners. However, almost all who write on the subject, know about it at best from the stories of former inmates or use common social stereotypes. As a result, there are often a lot of blunders and false representation.

Ihar’s Alinevich “On the way to Magadan” is now published in German

After more than 5 years of collaborative work on translation finally the book from Ihar Alinevich “On the way to Magadan” is now available in German! In the book former anarchist prisoner from Belarus Ihar Alinevich is describing his hardships during arrest in KGB prison in 2010-2011. Being kept in special prison for political targets of the state he was a subject to personal program of treatment with physical and psychological tortures.

During his stay in the prison he meets different people: starting from politicians from the opposition arrested after the presidential elections in Belarus in 2010, ending up with people from inside of the belarusian dictatorship, who were also repressed by Lukashenko’s regime.

The book describes the reality of political work and risks it applies for the activists in Belarus, and highlights the problems of the prison system and capitalism with describing some alternatives to it.

Warsaw: Open letter in connection with the arrest of three anarchists

On the night of May 23rd, the police in Warsaw arrested three anarchists on charges of an alleged arson attempt of a police vehicle. The three were transferred to a remand prison where they are to be held in custody for three months, awaiting trial. They face up to 8 years in prison. Media frenzy broke out over the arrest in the past few days, with high-ranking politicians and experts on terrorism discussing the matter on TV.
