We are pleased to announce Rose City Antifa joined the TORCH Network, a national solidarity network of anti-fascist groups founded in 2013. For those unfamiliar with the history of our organization, Rose City Antifa (RCA) was created in 2007 and the same year joined the Anti-Racist Action (ARA) Network which was founded in 1988. When ARA was dissolved in 2013 and reformed as TORCH. RCA decided to go autonomous. However with the Trump election and a massive upsurge in fascist violence, we feel it is vital to once again coordinate antifascist resistance through a national network.

Trump fanboy Milo Yiannopoulos, a far right ideologue and mouthpiece of the Alternative Right, is bringing his hate-filled speaking tour to Portland State University on January 18th, 2017. In light of the resurgence of racist and fascist activity on campus, the university's decision to provide a platform for such unbridled bigotry is one we at Rose City Antifa cannot ignore.
Over recent years, a host of new organizations and projects have surfaced in the US, attempting to rebrand fascism for new audiences. For several decades fascist organizing has been associated with the hijacking of “skinhead” fashion and culture, but increasingly the fascist Right moves in other scenes as well. Fascist organizers intend to build countercultural visibility and appeal to disaffected working class whites, who may already be active in a subculture of some form.
Florida fascist Atlee Yarrow is trying to organize an open carry protest to shut down a movie screening at a Portland synagogue, doing this from afar using Facebook organizing. The attempted protest is the latest in a series of internet-instigated campaigns to bolster the white supremacist movement in our region. Perhaps the first in this series was a Portland State White Student Union page that surfaced on Facebook last November; this was part of a wider internet effort in which false White Student Union pages popped up for colleges and universities across the country.

Invictus giving a speech in Jacksonville, FL in front of a Rock Against Communism flag On the evening of March 1st, 2016, Augustus Sol Invictus made a disastrous attempt to quietly pass through Portland on his campaign trail, hoping to “meet and greet” fellow neo-fascists in our city. About Invictus Augustus Invictus is a self-proclaimed “American Fascist.
Jacob Albert Laskey, the ringleader of a 2002 neo-Nazi attack against the Temple Beth Israel synagogue in Eugene, Oregon, has been released from federal prison and has promptly returned to white power organizing on the outside. In particular, Laskey is trying to rebuild the American Front, a bonehead (racist “skinhead”) organization that has fallen into disarray in recent years. Laskey states that he was released from prison on October 13, 2015.
Markus Wolff with black sun shirt As a result of public pressure, local musical project Waldteufel was dropped from the line-up for a Portland show by touring band Psychic TV, who played at Euphoria Nightclub on Saturday, December 12th. Complaints about Waldteufel’s presence on the bill began after Portland band Aradia raised criticisms of Waldteufel’s deep involvement in neo-fascist subculture. After making their concerns known, Aradia--who previously were also on the show’s bill--were dropped from the line-up by the organizer for Psychic TV’s Portland stop.
Rose City Antifa and allies are calling for antifascists in the Pacific Northwest to turn out this coming Sunday December 6th to Cal Anderson Park in Seattle, WA to show the Northwestern Hammerskins that we stand united against fascism and racism. The Northwestern Hammerskins have threatened to march on Capitol Hill in Seattle, and antifascists must turn out to defend the streets.
A Northwestern Hammerskins design On November 18, a member of the Stormfront white supremacist web forum posted an invitation for sympathizers to join the annual Robert Jay Mathews memorial, also known as the Martyrs Day commemoration. The Stormfront post asked for white supremacists to “Join us Sunday, Dec. 6th in Ballard, WA” and promised “five white power bands [...,] a traditional cross burning [.
