Today we going to talk about everyone’s favorite brothel owner Petyr Baelish a.k.a Little Finger! How he may be the ultimate gamemaster and answer the question did he start it ALL? And by all I mean the the War of the 5 Kings and cover the crazy theory that he could’ve had a small role to play in Robert’s Rebellion. Now i know that’s a theory that is going to stir the pot and drive some people crazy but we are going to cover it in depth. Let’s get started. There were a lot of things that contributed to the War of the 5 Kings. For me I believe that is was a combination of 3 main events that was the straw that broke that camel’s back if you will. First is King Robert’s death, second is the exposing of Joffrey's illegitimate claim to the throne, and 3rd the beheading of Ned Stark. If Robert doesn’t die then the thrones is still occupied. Robert dies but if the secret is not exposed then Stannis doesn’t have a right and Joffrey takes is place as expected. If Ned isn’t executed the Rob doesn’t go to war. Baylor and Renly are just bandwagoners trying to join the war train. But let’s go back to catalyst that set those chain of events in motion and that is the poisoning of Jon Arryn by his wife Lysa at the request of Littlefinger. Jon Arryn found the truth about Jamie and Cersei and was going to expose it but Littlefinger wanted on his terms. So he starts the game by removing a piece he couldn’t control or manipulate as much and replace it with a piece that he could. Now he did that by not only getting Lysa to kill her husband but also send a letter to Catlyn blaming the Lannisters. Now you got 2 powerful families pitted against each other from the get go with King Robert right in the middle. Littlefinger couldn’t control or predict every outcome of the the events and actions of everyone involved. He just knows how to navigate the chaos better. The power kegs and kindling was already in place. Littlefinger just lit the match. It's like a forest fire you can't control it littlefinger just has some the tools in place to use that chaos to his advantage. chaos is a ladder clip, followed by contest clip "Chaos is a ladder" Let's peek at some of the moves Littlefinger makes during firestorm he helped to start that moves him up that social ladder. He brokers a deal with Tywin Lannister and the Tyrells to defeat Stannis at BlackWater and ends up getting Harrenhal out of the dealHe then works with Olenna Tryrell to poison Joffrey little gasoline for the fire He then marries Lysa and then kills Lysa to basically become Lord of the ValeSet up wedding for Sansa and the Bolton’s Makes a deal with Cersei to help take out Ramsey Bolton for marrying sansa for the title of Warden of the North Helps Sansa and Jon retake Winterfell. When you step back and look you really get to see the gamemaster at work. Did Littlefinger first learn the benefits of chaos from Robert’s Rebellion? Littlefinger notices now that because Robert is King he appoints Jon Arryn as Hand and Jon appoints Littlefinger as master of coin of the small council. The theory in question is this - Littlefinger intercepts a letter from Lyanna Stark to her brother Brandon Stark saying that she is fine and willingly went with the Prince. Littlefinger mad at Brandon reads it and then burns it well for the simple fact that Brandon never gets the letter heads off to King’s Landing to confront the King and Prince Rhaegar gets killed and and the war starts. Now whether this is likely or not is another story but I’m to show you that it IS possible and here is why. Timeline in 281 you have The Tourney at Harrenhal A year later 282 it all goes down Littlefinger challenges Brandon to a duel almost killed and allowed to stay at Riverrun for a fortnight which is 14 days so for 2 weeks Littlefinger is recovering at Riverrun. This is the time frame that we are ,for fun speculating about. We know that Brandon Stark leaves Riverrun to meet up with his father and the wedding party up north and tells Catelyn he will return. We know that Lyanna was “taken” either prior or during these events from the Riverlands and headed south to dorne. It's not crazy to think that a passionate teenager would run away with the Prince of Westeros especially they were in love. Teenagers do foolish and reckless things all the time. At the beginning or during her travels she writes the letter to brandon at Riverrun. During this 2 weeks we know littlefinger is not fit for the hard travel back home but eventually is well enough to sleep with Lysa and get her pregnant. So Littlefinger could be well enough to ginger move around the castle. Since he is ward which is kinda like an adopted son of Tully’s he could have access to ravens and letters being sent. If not Lysa would be more than willing to intercept a letter for him.
