Best friends Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps have long been the poster girls on the power of female friendship. Meeting on the set of Dawson's Creek in the early 2000s, both actresses have taken the time to celebrate 15 years of friendship with throwback pictures and heartwarming remarks.
But it was at the premiere of her new film, Manchester By The Sea, that Williams expressed how important it is to have a female best friend by your side throughout life (the pair are known for attending events together).
"I'm so in love with her," Williams told People Magazine, at the New York City screening of her latest film. "She's proof that the love of your life does not have to be a man. That's the love of my life right there."
The feeling of friendship fuzzies is clearly mutual, with Philipps taking to Instagram to post a 2001 throwback image alongside a more glamorous shot from the movie screening to express how far their friendship has come over the 15 years.
Fishnets and sparse eyebrows aside, the pair even have the best friend bathroom selfie down pat, posing elegantly in the porta-potties at the recent Critics Choice Awards.
Williams told People she was delighted to be nominated for a Golden Globe as she "didn't even expect [Manchester by the Sea] would get made."
She added, "You don't make a movie like this because of any sort of clear benefit to your career or your finances – You do it because you can't avoid doing the thing that you love. As people, we should all be bound to the things that we love – other people, work, our families…and it's nice when those things get an extra reward that reminds you, 'Yea, it's OK to keep doing your thing'."
Williams also revealed that Philipps has been helping her get back into the dating scene at this year's Tony Awards. Sharing out dating advice and posting embarrassing social media photos - what are best friends for?
