First Kim Kardashian, now Donald Trump is using sticky tape in odd places

Donald Trump is not only a political renegade, he's now a fashion turncoat.

The President-elect, who is worth an estimated $4 billion, is now shunning elitist accessories like tie clips, instead preferring to sticky tape his silk neck adornments.

Trump showcased his new styling hack on a recent trip to Indiana to visit the Carrier airconditioning and heating company.

As he stepped off his private plane a gust of wind caught his red tie allowing photographers to catch a glimpse of two large pieces of tape going to work underneath.

Sticky tape has long been an effective and affordable trick for those in the public eye or those attending the races when the sun is out and the bar is open.

Earlier this year Kim Kardashian West revealed it is the thrifty way she corrals her cleavage.

"You tape them up so they're super lifted," she wrote in an entry on her app.

"It takes a little work, but trust me, it's all worth it, LOL.

"I've used everything from duct tape to packing tape to masking tape, and I think that the best I found is gaffer's tape [generally used for taping TV sets and arena show stages]. It sticks the best!"

Forgoing supermarket grade sticky tape, Trump instead chose a more upmarket and less corrosive option in Scotch tape.

A contentious choice for his trip to visit the blue-collar workers of the Rust Belt where he picked up Indiana's 11 electoral votes thanks to his campaign promises to "drain the swamp".

GQ, a long-time critic of Trump's wardrobe choices, was quick to take issue with his anti-establishment get up.

"Donald Trump's tie is held together with scotch tape, not unlike our fragile democracy," the magazine tweeted.
