2017 Skoda Octavia Scout revealed

Skoda has detailed its upcoming facelift for the high-riding Octavia Scout wagon.

The Czech brand has dropped the 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine from the previous version and instead will now offer its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel in two levels of tune; a 110kW entry-level model and a new 135kW variant. Power will be sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The Octavia Scout carries a new-look front-end including full-LED adaptive headlights and new LED tail-lights from the rest of the updated Octavia range.

Boosting its off-road potential is an additional 30mm of ride height compared to the standard Octavia wagon along with underbody protection and plastic reinforcement for the brake and fuel lines.

This extra toughness is complimented by the Scout's new bumpers which increase the entry and departure angles slightly to 16.6 degrees at the front and 14.5 degrees at the rear. Both axles are fitted with an electronic differential lock as standard.

Inside is the hallmark Octavia space including a luggage capacity of 610-litres with the rear seat in-place or 1,740-litres with the rear seat folded.

The range-topping model in Europe comes with the 'Columbus' satellite navigation system complete with a 9.2-inch colour screen and Wi-Fi hotspot.

Other technology includes trailer assist, blind spot warning, rear traffic alert, crew protect assist (tensions seatbelts and closes windows/sunroof in an accident), City Emergency Brake and Pedestrian Protection.
