The son of the former Australian captain Steve Waugh will play in a BBL curtain- raiser at the SCG next week.
Austin Waugh will feature alongside some of Australia cricket's emerging talent in a game before the Sydney Sixers play the Perth Scorchers on Tuesday.
Cricket Australia talent manager Graham Manou says Waugh has many similarities to his famous father when he plays.
Waugh top-scored for Metro NSW with an unbeaten century in the final of the national under-17 cricket championships in October.
He scored 122 from 136, with four fours and four sixes, in the one-day final against Queensland.
Waugh shone at the championships and is the leading run scorer for NSW Metro at the championships, scoring 372 runs at 74.4.
