Matt Millar beat a 3.15am alarm and a back injury to sneak into the final two rounds of the Australian PGA Championship, but the Canberra golfer says he'll have to play through the pain to complete the tournament.
Millar finished the second round at one-over par after playing 20 holes on Friday to make the cut at his final event of the year.
A storm on Thursday forced him off the course before he had finished his opening round and it meant Millar had to wake up at 3am to begin a long day of golf.
His game has been hindered by a nagging back injury that will require six weeks of rest after the weekend, but Millar is hopeful he can find his groove at Royal Pines on the Gold Coast.
He fired four birdies on the front nine on Friday but came unstuck down the home stretch to shoot three-over par in his final five holes.
"The back was starting to have a crack a bit ... I was going OK but then the back started to get worse," Millar said.
"I think I will struggle to get through the weekend. There's been quite a lot of good stuff but a few too many errors and not capitalising on opportunities.
"It's a bit frustrating to be honest. It's just a matter of how far I can get and hopefully I can get through the weekend."
