THE STORY BEHIND THE TECHNOLOGY. We’ve spent years collaborating with the designers behind MIPS. The technology was developed by scientists at the Karolinska Hospital and the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. The concept is based on 19 years of academic research. Through our extensive trials, we believe that helmets equipped with this technology may provide an additional measure of protection in some impacts. In 2015, Congress passed the Medicare and CHIP Reauthorization Act. It established new payment systems tied to cost and quality of care, and streamlined various programs into a single framework, called the Quality Payment Program. With over 2100 pages to read through, it’s easy to believe the changes will be overwhelming. Not to worry! That’s why eClinicalWorks sat down with Rohan D'Souza to understand the MACRA final rule and review the eClinicalWorks take on the new program. After this episode, viewers will have a better understanding of: • What is MACRA and the Quality Payment Program? • Two tracks to payment: MIPS and APMs. • How to prepare, and take a sneak peek into the eClinicalWorks roadmap.
In this lesson, Molly MacHarris, MIPS Program Lead with the Center for Clinical Standards and Quality, delivers an overview of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). You will learn about how MIPS combines the CMS Legacy Programs into a single reporting system. You will also learn about the benefits of MIPS, its four major performance categories (Quality, Cost, Improvement Activities, and Advancing Care Information), and the timeline for performance and payment. Now offered in select Bontrager helmets, MIPS stands for "Multi-directional Impact Protection System." Created through years of research, the combination of the brain's own protection and MIPS can provide better protection from angled impacts. See Bontrager's MIPS-equipped helmets: http://www.trekbikes.com/mips_helmets/
We take a closer look at two high end Mips helmets.

Learn how to create and call procedures (functions) in MIPS Assembly language!
SCOTT Sports has integrated MIPS® technology into certain mountain bike helmets to increase safety. MIPS® is a unique technology intended to protect your brain against angled impacts by imitating the brains natural low friction barrier, thereby reducing the shock transmitted to your brain. See how it works in this video.

This is a basic intro into MIPS, showing you what registers are and how to use functions in MIPS. This video does not go in depth in to the use of all the functions, but the later videos will cover that.
