Skoda has revealed details of its facelifted Octavia RS, which is set to be the most powerful version ever.
The new performance sedan and wagon will be powered by the VW Group's versatile 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit that now produces 169kW and 350Nm.
Skoda will also offer the same 135kW/380Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine from the current generation.
As with the regular Skoda Octavia models, external changes for the update centre on a new front-end. For the RS that translates into a new bumper, larger grille and air intakes as well as sharp new headlights, a four LED arrangement with adaptive front lighting.
The rear-end of both the sedan and wagon versions of the Skoda Octavia RS is adorned with a spoiler and there are new C-shaped rear lights.
Inside, the RS adds sports seats in leather/fabric, with Alcantara as an option, a perforated leather wrapped steering wheel, alloy pedals and ambient lighting. Range-topping models in Europe run the Columbus navigation system with a 9.2-inch colour screen as well as a wifi hotspot.
Sports suspension sits 15mm lower than standard, the rear track is 30mm wider and it comes equipped with the electronic locking differential to improve traction while adaptive dampers provides multiple settings between comfort and sport handling. The standard wheels in Europe are 17-inch alloys but there are also optional 18- and 19-inch alternatives, the former likely to be fitted to local cars.
Local specifications and pricing for the Skoda Octavia RS will be revealed closer to the launch date next year.

Mean time before failure of the DSG? Another fugly grill. The ride on the 19-inch wheels be punishing in sport handling mode. Will the Columbus navigation system encourage you to go west?

You are the only motoring publication to be quoting the new car with the electronic locking front diff as standard. Is this an exclusive to Drive?? Or are you perhaps confusing it with the Octavia RS230???
