Weather Warnings - Flooding Outlook Advice - Kimberley

Flood Watch for the Kimberley

A tropical low lies in the northeastern parts of the Kimberley and is forecast
to track southwestwards over the next few days.

Widespread rainfall totals in excess of 150mm with isolated totals up to 218mm
have been recorded in the 24 hours to 9am Thursday.

For the 24 hours to 9am Friday widespread rainfall totals of 50 to 100 mm is
forecast for the western parts of the Kimberley, with isolated totals up to
150mm possible. Subsequent heavy rainfall is also expected in the following
days corresponding to the passage of the tropical low.

Flood Warnings are current for the Ord River Catchment, North Kimberley
catchments and West Kimberley catchments.

Given the relatively wet condition of the Kimberley catchments, significant
stream rises and areas of flooding may develop in the Kimberley during Thursday
into Friday.

Fitzroy River


DFES advises people and communities to be aware that flooding is possible and
be prepared to relocate equipment and livestock. Watch water levels. Travellers
need to be aware that road conditions may be adversely affected and travel
plans may need to be reconsidered. Do not drive into water of unknown depth and
velocity.
