Brutal fascist attacks in Calais / Attaques de fachos à Calais
On the night of Thursday 21st January, three refugees from Syria were brutally attacked in Calais. The assault happened close to an abandoned field near Impasse des Salines between midnight and 1.00 am. Six fascists in plain black boiler suits, similar to police clothing but without emblems, were identified by those attacked. The assailants had their faces covered and were all carrying a side arm.
Before the attack, the refugees were asked for their documents, their mobiles, and any money they were carrying. They were then searched to see if they had surrendered everything that could be stolen. After the shake down, the 3 men were beaten with iron bars again and again. The fascists kicked them in the face and jumped on their bodies, over and over. When one of the refugees was severly bleeding from the head a member of the fash group said: ‘arret, arret’, and the attack stopped. Heavily injured from the assault the 3 Jungle residents managed to get back to the relative safety of the camp, later activists brought them to the hospital. One of the men attacked left the hospital before the others and went to the police station to make a complaint. The police took samples from the crime scene and will investigate further the source of these attacks.
This disgusting and violent assault is the fourth in four nights. It comes after a prolonged period of police and neo-nazi cooperation. This is not in any way a unique event, in fact the night before, on the 20th, a 15 year old Afghan minor was attacked resulting in wounds requiring stitches on his head and lips. The size and the severity of this 6 man assault suggest a well coordinated operation. The violence on the city streets of Calais experienced by those living in the Jungle, either sanctioned by the state or not, shows the shameful depths of nationalist ideologies in France today.

La nuit du Mardi 21 janvier, 3 réfugiés syriens ont été brutalement attaqués à Calais. L’assaut s’est déroulée près d’un terrain abandonné vers Impasse des Salines entre minuit et 1h du matin. Les victimes ont décrit six fachos, en vêtements de travail noir uni, habillés comme la police mais sans insignes. Les assaillants étaient masqués et portaient tous une arme de poing.
Avant l’attaque, les réfugiés se sont vus confisqué leur documents, leur téléphone et tout l’argent qu’ils avaient sur eux. Ils ont ensuite été fouillé afin de vérifier qu’ils avaient bien donné tout ce qui était volable. Après le racket, les 3 hommes ont été battus à la barre de fer, encore et encore. Les fachos les ont frappés au visage et ont sauté sur leur corps, encore et encore. Lorsque l’un des réfugiés saignait sévèrement au niveau de la tête, l’un des membres du groupe faf a dit” arrête, arrête” et l’attaque a alors cessé. Gravement blessés, les 3 résidents de la jungle ont réussi à revenir à la relative sécurité du camp, et plus tard, des activistes les ont emmenés à l’hôpital. L’un des hommes est sorti de l’hôpital avant les autres et est allé au commissariat porter plainte. La police a recueilli des éléments sur la scène de crime et recherchera plus en profondeur les auteurs de l’attaque. Cette attaque, violente et dégueulasse, arrive après une période prolongée de coopération entre police et néo-nazi. Il ne s’agit en aucun cas d’un événement unique. En fait, la nuit précédente, le 20, un mineur afghan de 15 ans a été attaqué, résultant en des blessures requérant des points de suture aux lèvres et à la tête. Pourtant, l’ampleur et la gravité de l’attaque de ces 6 hommes suggère qu’il s’agissait d’une opération bien coordonnée. La violence des rues de Calais, subie par ceux qui vivent à la jungle, qu’elle soit ou non sanctionnée par l’État, montre les profondeurs détestables des idéologies nationalistes en France aujourd’hui.

One person from Afghanistan got beaten up by four people in a grey hatchback car near galloo squat. He had already seen them near galloo the night before, when they insulted him. Three persons from Sudan were attacked by 4 fascists close to the sudanese jungle at night. Two of them managed to escape, but one was gazed by female fascist and then beaten up by three male fascists. He went to the hospital afterwards and stayed their several hours. He decided to write a testimony. 19.02. At 1 o' clock one person from Germany was intentionally run over by a grey twingo at the crossways Boulevard Lafayette and Quai de Commerce (next to match). She has small scratches on the legs and the bike is wracked. She made a complaint against x at the police station in Calais and recorded the interview with the cops.
Attaques fascistes au mois de février 2015: 01.02. Renault noire passe par une personne sur un vélo. Le passager ouvre la fenêtre et jette de l'eau sur la tête de la cycliste. 08.02. Fascistes dans un peugeot bleu crient "Je vas te faire enculé" et d'autres insultes et puis lancent des trucs par la fenêtre pour intimider un groupe de Syriens qui est installé en face de l'église. 09.02. un groupe de quatre Egyptiens rapporte que une voiture bleue essayait de les écraser sur le chemin de Tioxide jungle au «centre de jour» Jules Ferry, l'un d'eux est allé à l'hôpital parce qu'il a été frappé par le rétroviseur, ils ont informé la police à propos de l'incident. Une personne de l'Afghanistan a été battu par quatre personnes dans une voiture grise près du squat Galloo. Il les avait déjà vu près de Galloo la veille, quand ils l'ont insulté. Ce jour ils ont utilisé des bâtons et des coups de poing américains. Les habitant-E-s de Gallo ont confirmé que cette voiture fait des rondes dans le quartier chaque nuit. 12.02. Une personne de l'Afghanistan a été battu avec des bâtons sur la tête et était pointé dans le torse, il y a trois nuits quand il marchait d'un parking à Tioxode. Ensuite, il a été emmené à l'hôpital avec l'ambulance et la police a été informé par l'hôpital. Les fascistes étaient à pied. 14.02. Trois personnes en provenance du Soudan ont été attaqués par quatre fascistes à proximité de la jungle soudanaise pendant la nuit. Deux d'entre eux ont réussi à s'échapper, mais un a été gaze par une fasciste et puis battu par trois fascistes masculins. Il est allé à l'hôpital par la suite et il y est resté plusieurs heures.Il a décidé d'écrire un témoignage. 19.02. A 1 h la nuit, une personne de l'Allemagne sur un vélo a été intentionnellement heurtée et renversée par une twingo grise a l'intersection Boulevard la Fayette et Quai de Commerce (à côté du Match). Elle a des petites rayures sur les jambes et le vélo est cassé. Elle a déposé plainte contre X au commissariat de police à Calais, l'entretien avec la police a été enregistrée par elle.
Appel contre une manif de facho’s
Le 25 janvier le groupe fasciste Sauvons Calais organise une marche contre l’immigration. Leur rendez vous aura lieu sur la Place d’Armes a 14h.
Le temps de bouger est venu- nous appelons a l’immigration et toutes actions attaquant le fascisme qui s’impose autour de nous. A Calais l’on voit plus de rassemblements facho’s, plus de menace pendant que l’etat prend de plus en plus d’ampleur sur nos vies. De plus en plus de flics imposent leurs controles en rue, dans les jungles, les maisons, les endroits ou nous dormons, nos mouvements, le port et les autoroutes, les parkings et les station service. Pendant ce temps, les meurtres causés par le regime frontalier continuent, par les lois Européenes et les voix fascistes qui prennent de plus en plus de sièges dans les chambres dorées des parlements.
Nous appelons a une mobilisation anti fasciste! En decembre le vent nous a montré comment faire, faisant tomber un nouveau grillage de securité au port, installé par le gouvernement de Grande-Bretagne dans un arrangement de €15millions avec les autoritées Francaises pour hermetiser la frontière. Tout peut être brisé. Nous rêvons d’un temps ou non seulement les soi disant fascistes organisés ne se montreront plus en rue, mais aussi les flics et politiciens responsables du regime frontalier n’auront plus l’opportunité de decider de nos vies et mouvements.
Pas de nation, pas d’état, pas de flics, pas de frontières. Pas de systeme d’asile qui peut interdire d’un endroit ou vivre. Pas d’Eurodac

La menace de violence fasciste est souvent plus grande avant et apres la marche. Et speciallement a ce moment ou nous voyons augmenter les attaques racistes anti-Musulmans ici en France.

Call out against fascist demo
On the 25th of January the fascist group Sauvons Calais are planning a march against migration at Place d’Armes at 2 am.
Now is the time for movement – we call for migration and any action attacking the fascism we see rise around us. In Calais we see more fascist gatherings, more threats, whilst the occupation of life by the state is ongoing. More and more the cops impose their control on the streets, jungles, houses, places were we live and sleep, our movements, the harbour and the highways, the parkings and the gas stations. Still the deaths caused by the border regime continue. The law of Europe. The fascist voices getting more seats in the shiny parliamentary rooms.
We call for anti-fascist mobilisation. The wind showed us the way in December, blowing down the new security fence at the port, installed by the UK government in a €15 million deal with the French authorities to seal the border. All things can be torn down. We dream of a time when not only so called organised fascists will not gather in the streets, but also cops and politicians responsible for the border regime don’t have the opportunity to rule over our lives and movements.
No nation, no state, no cops, no borders. No asylum system that can deny you a place to live. No Eurodac.
We call on you, to join us in anti-fascist reactions against the daily threat here in Calais as well as the specific threat from Sauvons Calais on the 25th and the days around. The threat of fascist violence is often bigger just before and after these gatherings rather than on the march itself. And at this moment in particular we have seen a surge in racist anti-Muslim attacks here in France.

We will be here. Bring your friends and tents and come. There are possibilities to stay in squats and jungles. It might be cold and rainy so good clothes and warm sleeping bag can make life a bit easier.

The fascist demonstration that never happened
Despite their big push for a demonstration this weekend, members of Sauvons Calais and the other neo-nazi groups who had promised their presence in the centre of Calais on Sunday were nowhere to be seen.
On the other hand, there was an overwhelming response to the callouts from No Borders and other local groups and networks. With around 100 arriving in Calais to show solidarity with the communities here and to help defend the squats and camps against attack.
The prefect of Calais had announced on Friday afternoon that the demonstration of Sauvons Calais was not allowed because of the threat to public order. Although the fascists came up with a new plan to congregate near the food distribution instead, they cancelled this at the last minute themselves.
In the end, the weekend passed without much incident. The only time the fascists made themselves known was early on Sunday morning, when around 40 stood on the road that passes over the Eriterean camp singing the national anthem. But they did not stay around for very long. In fact, once people stepped out of their tents to see what all the noise was, they disappeared quickly and seemingly took the next train out of Calais.
The police presence on the other hand was substantial as the huge force of CRS that came for the eviction of the Sudanese jungle stayed around for the weekend just to make sure nothing would happen. For the most part they sat in their vans through the whole day looking like storm troopers while playing games on their smartphones. The police (or possible scouts for UK Premier League teams) also had an airplane that took photos of the football match that was played in the citadelle, where everyone had met once it became clear there was going to be no demonstration. The Sudanese were a strong side as usual, defeating both Ethiopia and the French Antifa to the cheers of Calais’ BAC police who were standing on top of a hill to have a better view.
All in all, it was one of the best days that has been had in Calais for a while as everyone was united in the desire to confront the fascists and when they didn’t have to, were able to have a nice time getting to know one another and enjoying the sun. In case anyone misunderstood, we were not recognizing anyone’s call for peace this weekend, but just didn’t end up needing to defend ourselves.
