A general assembly is a meeting of all the members of an organisation or shareholders of a company.
Specific examples of general assembly include:
Ohio i/oʊˈhaɪ.oʊ/ is a state in the midwestern region of the United States. Ohio is the 34th largest by area, the 7th most populous, and the 10th most densely populated of the 50 United States. The state's capital and largest city is Columbus.
The state takes its name from the Ohio River. The name originated from the Iroquois word ohi-yo’, meaning "great river" or "large creek." Partitioned from the Northwest Territory, the state was admitted to the Union as the 17th state (and the first under the Northwest Ordinance) on March 1, 1803. Ohio is historically known as the "Buckeye State" (relating to the Ohio buckeye tree, and Ohioans are also known as "Buckeyes."
The government of Ohio is composed of the executive branch, led by the Governor; the legislative branch, which comprises the Ohio General Assembly; and the judicial branch, which is led by the state Supreme Court. Ohio occupies 16 seats in the United States House of Representatives. Ohio is known for its status as both a swing state and a bellwether in national elections. Six Presidents of the United States have been elected who had Ohio as their home state.
The Ohio General Assembly is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Ohio. It consists of the 99-member Ohio House of Representatives and the 33-member Ohio Senate. Both houses of the General Assembly meet at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.
The Legislative Service Commission is one of several legislative agencies. It serves as a source for legal expertise and staffing and drafts proposed legislation.
The General Assembly first convened in Chillicothe, then the Ohio capital, on March 1, 1803.
The second constitution of Ohio, effective in 1851, took away the power of the General Assembly to only choose the state's executive officers, granting that right to the voters. A complicated formula apportioned legislators to Ohio counties and the number of seats in the legislative houses varied from year-to-year.
The Ohio Politics Almanac by Michael F. Curtin (Kent State University Press) described apportionment thus:
In 1903, the apportionment system was modified by the Hanna amendment, which also gave the governor veto power over the assembly's acts, which could be overridden by a two-thirds vote of both houses. The last state constitutional convention, held in 1912, gave the governor a line-item veto, but reduced the supermajority required for overriding the veto to three-fifths. In 1956, a referendum increased the terms of state senators from two to four years.
David E. Burke (born July 26, 1967) is the state Senator for the 26th District of the Ohio Senate. He formerly served in the Ohio House of Representatives. He is the Chairman of the Senate Finance Medicaid subcommittee. Burke is a Republican.
Burke received his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University and his master’s degree in Business Administration from Capital University. Burke has owned Dave's Pharmacy in Marysville, Ohio since 1997, and served on Marysville City Council from 2004 to 2008.
With incumbent Tony Core unable to run for another term, Burke was one of three Republicans who sought to replace him, along with Jack Reser and Cameron Wesselbeck. In the end, Burke won the nomination with 46.78% of the electorate, only 400 votes more than Reser. He ran unopposed in the general election, ensuring him a seat at the Statehouse. In 2010, Burke again ran unopposed.
In the 129th General Assembly, Speaker of the House William G. Batchelder had named Burke as a member of the Republican majority caucus' Policy Committee.

Recently, the Ohio General Assembly enacted HB 233, which created two new types of tax increment financing (TIF) programs – downtown redevelopment district TIFs and innovation district TIFs. The districts will allow for many opportunities including assistance in funding downtown managers as well as investing in building rehabilitations. These new TIF programs complement long-existing TIF programs, such as urban redevelopment TIFs and traditional TIFs. This webinar will address the key elements of the new TIF programs, describe how they can work with existing TIF programs, and provide examples.
