Cincinnati (/sɪnsᵻˈnæti/ sin-si-NAT-ee) is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio that serves as county seat of Hamilton County. Settled in 1788, the city is located on the north side of the confluence of the Licking with the Ohio River. The latter forms the border between the states of Ohio and Kentucky. Cincinnati is the third-largest city in Ohio and the 65th-largest city in the United States with a population of 296,945 people at the 2010 census. The larger Cincinnati metropolitan area had a population of 2,214,954 in 2010, making it the 28th-largest Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) in the United States and the largest centered in Ohio. The city is also part of the larger Cincinnati–Middletown–Wilmington Combined Statistical Area (CSA), which had a population of 2,172,191 in the 2010 census.
In the early 19th century, Cincinnati was an American boomtown in the heart of the country; it rivaled the larger coastal cities in size and wealth. Throughout much of the 19th century, it was listed among the top 10 U.S. cities by population, surpassed only by New Orleans and the older, established settlements of the Eastern Seaboard; at one point holding the position of sixth-largest city for a period spanning consecutive census reports from 1840 until 1860. It was by far the largest city in the west. Because it is the first major American city founded after the American Revolution as well as the first major inland city in the country, Cincinnati is sometimes thought of as the first purely "American" city.

CINCINNATI (Angenette Levy) -- Cincinnati made a travel website's so-called "hit list" for 2015. Jetsetter.com released its top ten list of places to visit for the year. It included cities in Mexico, the countries of Cuba and Nicaragua. Cincinnati rounded out the top ten. "It did surprise me but at the same time we have a lot going on," said Jamie Rogers of Maineville, who was eating dinner with a friend at Nada. Cincinnati will host Major League Baseball's All-Star game in 2015. But that was not the reason Jetsetter listed for Cincinnati making the list. The website called downtown "a hub of arts and entertainment." Areas such as the Backstage District got a shout out from the site. It's home to restaurants like Nada, Boca and Sotto. "I think it's humbling more than anything...

Hillary Clinton, the presumptive 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) spoke at a campaign rally in Cincinnati, Ohio. Clinton says Trump tried to turn Brexit into 'an infomercial' Clinton delivers a sustained criticism of Trump as conclusion to her speech: “I have this old fashioned idea. If you’re running for president, you should say what you want to do and how you will get it done,” she says. Ask yourself what are Donald Trump’s plans? Well, best I can tell, he has no credible strategy for creating jobs... he says he’s for our workers. But Trump’s own products are made in countries that are not called America.” This time she names Trump suits, furniture and barware, all manufactured overseas. That’s not “America First”, she says. Then Clinton runs d...

Mallory Sr. (Oct. 4, 1931 - Dec. 10, 2013) at Cincinnati Museum Center as part of the StoryCorps project. Mallory was instrumental in creating the Cincinnati we know today, helping draft legislation to fund Riverfront Stadium and Fountain Square and serving as a co-chairman on the committee that created what is now the Metro. His lawsuit charging discrimination in the election of county judges resulted in the establishment of 14 judicial districts, leveling the field for African-American candidates. He instilled the importance of public service on his six children, five of whom serve in local government on some level, including former mayor Mark Mallory. His public...
