The Live Lounge is a segment on the British radio station BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra. Originally hosted by Jo Whiley on her mid-morning radio show and then by Fearne Cotton from 2009 until 2015. It is now hosted by Clara Amfo, she has been the host since May 2015. it exhibits well-known artists usually performing one song of their own and one by another artist, in an acoustic format. The 'Live Lounge' itself is also a physical room in the Radio 1 studios, from where some of the performances are broadcast; however, due to its size, many are done from the BBC Maida Vale Studios. Since 2009, Trevor Nelson has hosted Live Lounges on his BBC Radio 1Xtra show.
The songs chosen as cover versions are often a completely different genre to that which the artist usually performs, and offer a new perspective on the original. Jamie Cullum's cover of Pharrell Williams's "Frontin'" led to Cullum being signed to Pharrell's label Star Trak when played to him at a later visit to The Jo Whiley Show, and was added to his 2003 album Twentysomething.

BBC Radio 1 (also known as just Radio 1) is a British radio station operated by the British Broadcasting Corporation which also broadcasts internationally, specialising in modern and current popular music and chart hits throughout the day. Radio 1 provides alternative genres after 7:00 pm, including electronic dance, hip hop, rock, indie or interviews. It is aimed primarily at the 15–29 age group, although the average age of the UK audience in 2008 was 33.
Radio 1 was established in 1967 (along with its somewhat more adult-oriented counterpart, BBC Radio 2) as a successor to the BBC Light Programme, which had broadcast popular music and other entertainment since 1945. Radio 1 was conceived as a direct response to the popularity of offshore pirate radio stations such as Radio Caroline and Radio London, which had been outlawed by Act of Parliament. Radio 1 was launched at 7:00 am on Saturday 30 September 1967.
Scott Robert Mills (born 28 March 1974) is a British radio DJ, television presenter and occasional actor, best known for presenting his show on BBC Radio 1. As of the 2011 Contest, Mills commentated for the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest on BBC Three.
Mills began his career at the age of 16 as a DJ on his local Hampshire commercial radio station, Power FM, after barraging the station with demo tapes. Mills was given an opportunity to present a week worth of shows, and based on the success of this, he was immediately offered the 'graveyard slot' of 1:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m. (six nights a week), making him the youngest permanent presenter on the mainstream commercial radio. Mills' popularity led to a quick move to the coveted late afternoon 'drive time'.
Mills moved from Power FM to GWR FM Bristol, staying with the station for two years, before joining Piccadilly Key 103 in Manchester where he again moved quickly from the late night slot to the mid-morning show. In 1995, Mills began to work for the new London station Heart 106.2.

Sometimes I feel so lost S.O.S. all my lines are crossed. I bite off more than I can chew. It's killing me its killing you there's nothing that I'd rather do. It's got me now its holding me. A sign of something good a sign I thought I'd never see. I try to keep it in my head. We'll you can kick my ass and burn your books, but it won't change a word I've said. I guess I should have seen it coming. It's in the smile on his face. Did you really think that this would be so easy? I think you made a big mistake. What went so wrong? Every action has reaction in this fucked up world that you created. Now you're head is so full of negativity and shattered dreams. A world of noise you end up hating. It's got me now it's holding me. A sign of something good a sign I thought I'd never see. I try to keep it in my head. We'll you can kick my ass and burn you're books but it won't change a word I've said. I guess I should have seen it coming. It's in the smile on his face. Did you really think that this would be so easy? I think you made a big mistake. What went so wrong it's been too long. So just take it on the chin. It's who you are and what you do. Not who you were or what you have been. There's just one thing you should know. That I still care to work it out don't think about it let it go.
