Airplay

In radio broadcasting, airplay is how frequently a song is being played on radio stations. A song which is being played several times every day (spins) would have a large amount of airplay. Music which became very popular on jukeboxes, in nightclubs and at discotheques between the 1940s and 1960s would also have airplay.

For commercial broadcasting, airplay is usually the result of being placed into rotation, also called adding it to the station's playlist by the music director, possibly as the result of a Pay for Play sponsored by the record label. For student radio and other community radio or indie radio stations, it is often the selection by each disc jockey, usually at the suggestion of a music director.

Most countries have at least one radio airplay chart in existence, although larger countries such as Canada, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia,Japan, and Brazil have several, to cover different genres and areas of the country.

A song which was successful in the airplay charts but weak in sales was commonly known as a "turntable hit" when radio stations played only vinyl singles. Airplay can be a crucial element in securing a singer's 'hit', and alongside social networking websites it is an effective method that artists use to make their name known.

Adamson

The Adamson was an English car manufactured in Enfield, Middlesex, from 1912 to 1925. It was designed by Reginald Barton Adamson at the premises of the family haulage contract business.

History

The first car of 1912 was a small two-seater bullnosed cyclecar and had a 1,099 cc twin-cylinder or 1,074 cc four-cylinder engine made by Alpha of Coventry driving the rear wheels via a three-speed-and-reverse gearbox and a countershaft from which two V-belts went to the rear wheels. The engine could be started from the driving seat using a mechanical linkage. The channel section steel chassis was placed under the axles with suspension by semi-elliptic leaf springs. This arrangement allowed the car to have a low, sporting appearance. In 1914 the option of a larger four-cylinder version was added. A new model was announced in 1916 with 1330 cc four-cylinder engine, but few if any reached the public before car production ceased later that year.

After the war a new company, R. Barton Adamson and Co was formed and the 1916 four-cylinder car was resurrected but now with a Coventry-Simplex engine. In 1920 it cost £375 falling to £210 in 1924 but to put the price into perspective, in 1923 the Austin 7 was launched costing £165.

Kas

Kas is the brand name of soft drink produced by PepsiCo. It comes in grapefruit, orange (yellow), lemon (greenish-yellow), bitter (herbal extracts), and apple flavors. Kasfruit juices are also offered in multiple flavors. Kas is available in Spain, Mexico and France, and was available in Brazil and Argentina during the 1990s.

It is part of a beverage area often referred to as the flavor segment, which comprises carbonated or non-carbonated fruit-flavored beverages.

Created by Roman Knörr Streiffr, Kas originated in Spain in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz (capital of the Alava province, Basque Country, Spain) as a local brand used primarily as a mixing drink with alcohol. The brand grew, was acquired by Pepsi-Cola de España in 1991 and was extended into diet soft drinks and juices.

Kas promotion has included a landmark 24 Horas Kas campaign in the mid-1990s that included a catchy jingle based on the song "Dame Mas" by Alex de la Nuez a cover of the Steve Miller Band's song Give It Up from 1982 album Abracadabra. The campaign featured the Chica Kas, an attractive woman wearing a broad-brimmed hat and slinky dress, in situations involving cultural taboos and with sexual overtones.
