Avant garde, no?

So. What's the story, morning glory?

Basically, in a nutshell, at the heart of the matter, it is this: I noticed that there were way more dudes than ladies appearing in the august Opinion pages of The Age.

Maybe I'm just crazy, though, I thought, so I started making a note of how many opinion pieces were written by men and how many by women.

For the purposes of this experiment, we only counted the Opinion page in the Monday to Friday editions of The Age, as the Saturday and Sunday papers are distinct publications with separate editors.

In a situation where a piece has multiple authors, if they are both the same gender they were counted as one. If they were of different gender, each gender got one point.

For some possible explanations as to the gender imbalance in The Age, see this article by Clem Bastow.

And now... the graphs.
