Katie Holmes is usually very protective when it comes to photos of 10-year-old Suri.
But in an uncharacteristic move the actress celebrated her 38th birthday by posting two social media photos with her daughter.
"Birthday vibes!" one photo of mother and daughter was captioned, followed by another photo where Suri is smiling at the camera.
"Birthday vibes continued," wrote the proud mum. "So grateful today."
Suri, who is Holmes' only child with ex-husband Tom Cruise, took part in a game of tenpin bowling to help celebrate her mother's birthday.
Another photo on Holmes' Instagram feed shows bright coloured bowling balls and the caption reads: "Showing strength in bumper bowling, lol"
Holmes recently told how she was careful not to reveal too many details of her personal life on social media platforms, such as Instagram.
"I try to post things that take time," the New York based actress told People magazine in October.
"I am careful with what I share; I think about it. To me it's like a magazine."
