More Bluesfest pain as Bee Gees' Barry Gibb cancels Australia, New Zealand tour

Barry Gibb has cancelled his tour of Australia and New Zealand, including his Monday-night headline slot at the Byron Bay Bluesfest.

Touring company Live Nation said the former Bee Gee's tour Down Under, set for next April, would not go ahead "due to a change in international commitments".

Alec Baldwin appears as Trump again on SNL, Alan Thicke dies aged 69 and it's awards nomination season.

The last tweet from Gibbs was in mourning for his late-friend Alan Thicke, who died last week.

Thicke's memorial service was held at his family home in Carpinteria, California on Sunday evening (midday Monday AEST) with 300 guests, consisting of family, friends and his former Growing Pains co-stars.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Joanna Kerns, Kirk Cameron, Tracey Gold and Jeremy Miller attended, according to CNN, as well as celebrity friends Kris Jenner, Bob Saget, Bill Maher, Alex Trebek and Rob Lowe.

Live Nation also said it was "currently not possible" to reschedule Gibb's performances, so full refunds would be available to ticket holders for the shows.

However, Gibb's cancellation will come as a massive blow to Bluesfest, who recently also lost Friday night headliner Neil Young.

"As sad as cancellations are, they do happen, but be assured that Bluesfest 2017 will continue to bring more incredible musicians to the stage (in addition to all the amazing artists already announced), who will meet all your expectations," said festival director Peter Noble in a statement.

"We look forward to announcing more outstanding artists in the New Year and spending this coming Easter with you - together in Happiness and Harmony. We are pleased to announce that Bluesfest is now close to 80 per cent sold out!"

Gibb, who found fame in the 1970s alongside his brothers Maurice and Robin in The Bee Gees, is the last surviving member of the band.

He recently released In The Now, his first solo album in 32 years, written with his sons Stephen and Ashley, and he appeared on stage with Coldplay at this year's Glastonbury music festival.

Bluesfest is offering a refund for Byron Bay patrons who bought Monday Single Day tickets, from today until seven days after the new artist announcement for Easter Monday has been made.

Tickets bought for Gibb's solo shows will be refunded in full to all credit and debit card holders and Ticketek will be in touch to all those who bought tickets to advise how to process their refund, with information provided below.
