The girl had been throwing water at Courtney and screaming "you killed Kurt", which provoked her into a slew of harsh words before the band stormed off stage, with drummer Patty Schemel getting the last words in— "you fuckin' bitch!". Classic moment in Hole history. Apparently, Courtney went out into the audience trying to find the girl who was throwing shit at her.

Hole (band)
Hole was an American alternative rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California in 1989 by singer and guitarist Courtney Love and lead guitarist Eric Erlandson. The band had a revolving line-up of bassists and drummers, their most prolific being drummer Patty Schemel, and bassists Kristen Pfaff (d. 1994) and Melissa Auf der Maur. Over the duration of their career, Hole went on to become one of the most successful female-fronted rock bands of all time, with their studio albums selling over three million records in the United States alone.
Initially prolific in Los Angeles' punk rock scene, the band collaborated with Kim Gordon for their critically acclaimed debut album, Pretty on the Inside (1991), following it with the more commercially viable Live Through This (1994), which was widely acclaimed and reached platinum status within a year of its release. With Love's lyrics explicitly discussing issues of body image, identity, and sexual exploitation, Hole became the most high-profile musical group of the 1990s to discuss feminist issues in their songs, and also gained considerable media coverage due to Love's reckless and disturbing live performances. Their third release, the more polished Celebrity Skin (1998), garnered them four Grammy nominations. In 2002 the group disbanded to pursue other projects.

At a benefit for Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang Camps for kids with serious medical problems, Amelia O'Connell of Liverpool, England, stole the show from the pros --
It was the musical skills of this camper that left Wonder and company (also including Emmylou Harris, Lyle Lovett and Keb' Mo') in her shadow.
Headliner Stevie Wonder was upstaged by 13-year-old heart patient Amelia O'Connell (center, in white shirt) at Thursday's benefit for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camps for kids.Standing center stage with pure poise, she turned to the backing band and gave a slight nod that said she was ready. The music started, and this munchkin of a girl boomed a stunning rendition of "Over the Rainbow." Amelia didn't ape Judy Garland, yet her voice delivered the song with the kind of purity that never fails to raise goosebumps. She hit the song's high notes effortlessly, inserting trills in the melody that made you believe she was actually interpreting the well-worn American standard. It was fantastic. After the show, O'Connell told The Post, "I wasn't nervous at all. I didn't even think about it -- I just sang." Although she says she's never taken singing lessons or been part of a professional production, she added, "I want to be a singer-songwriter when I grow up."
If you ask Stevie Wonder -- who was also pretty terrific in his headlining set -- he'd probably agree that Amelia O'Connell is already halfway there.

This one of the few shows I filmed at The Rat. Despite everything else, I still really enjoy this first album and lineup. I only ever met Caroline Rue, she seemed pleasant enough. I think Courtney's Beat Happening remark is really funny. It's too bad the video fades out before you hear the enormous Huell Babineaux-lookin' guy finish telling me "You're always filming crazy people." I just looked at my old battered copy of Pretty on the Inside which says All songs Hole 1991 Bad Sister Music BMI
