Tropical Cyclone Yvette
Tropical Cyclone Yvette (Category 1) is now located at 750 km north-northwest of Karratha and 800 km northwest of Port Hedland, moving slowly.
Yvette carries sustained winds near the centre of 75 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 100 kilometres per hour.
The cyclone is not expected to reach Category 2 status until Friday and is also not expected to affect the Western Australia mainland in the next 48 hours.
In the longer term, Yvette is forecast to approach the Pilbara/West Kimberley coast during the Christmas weekend.
