Heritage Fencing has been operated for over 30 years in South Australia. We specialise in building authentically designed front fences for all periods of Adelaide homes from 1840 - 1960. All our work is in genuine hardwood and is supported by Heritage Architects and many Heritage Streetscape Subsidy programs of local councils.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Heritage has a unique quoting system that is easy and accurate. We require your street address and email. Through this we search street veiw and can send suggestions on style and form appropriate for your frontage and the lay of the land. If you provide us with some simple measures that we can speak on a comprehensive custom quote can be provided

Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

All work is guaranteed for the one year to see you through the first four seasons. Heritage is a fully licensed & fully insured business using qualified carpenters on all installations.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

Heritage Fencing has been under the one owner since its conception in 1980. We are dedicated to, and motivated by, appropriate design, are quest for quality has changed the streetscape of Adelaide. Many Councils, Architects & State heritage Bodies rely on our services.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

Owner Studied at tertiary level Architecture & Industrial Design coupled with a keen interest in History he opened Heritage Fencing in the early 1980's. Heritage Employs Carpenters & Trains apprentices.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Authentic Design in genuine hardwood. We speacialise in symaphetic, era appropriate designs, for front fences on all Adelaide homes. Many councils support our work through streetscape subsidy programs.

How do you normally charge for your service?

We charge for the job itself. There is no administrative costs. All quotes are individually designed, and broken down to the sum of there parts, there is no standard per metre rates as there is no standard fence.

What makes your pricing competitive?

We are a stand alone business without equivalents. We source our timber direct from mills and have an active policy of cutting out the middle men. Our mark up on material is very modest.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

It is critical that people see previously built work in order to make judgement on the suitability of either a product or a provider. In my business this relates to architectural integrity..so many providers just pull product of a rack wheras all our work is custom shaped and designed.

What do you like most about your job?

The journey itself...Very few people are aware of the myriad design options available to them and the specific benifit of an authentic aproach that embraces genuinely the period of the home they live in.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

The State Library provides an internet site that shows original photos of the streets of Adelaide. Often when asked "what fence should I have" we have been able to provide a photo of the very original fence with the original proud family standing out front 120 years ago. Thats when history really sings!

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I was a keen student of History, then studied architecture & industrial design for 3-4 years. It wasn't until years later that I realised how these pursuits now perfectly align in my business.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1. Google street view is a breakthrough resourse allowing us to instantly see a home, its period and the lay of the land. 2. We then email suggestions relevant to the period and with a guided conversation on the basic measures required we can then provide a completely accurate cost without any administrative costs. 3.
