There's nothing better than a trip to the movies ... Yes, curling up on the couch with plenty of junk food and Netflix is always tempting ... but there are some experiences that you can only get within the walls of your local cinema. How can you say no to the smell of fresh popcorn, plush seats and a dark, chilly theatre? 

Each month, we'll update our list of must-watch movies, and provide a sneak peak for the flicks you should be looking out for.

1) Ghostbusters

Thirty years after the original film took the world by storm, Ghostbusters is back and fully rebooted for a new generation. Get ready to watch them save the world!

2) Finding Dory

Now showing in all theatres in both 2D and 3D. 

Disney-Pixar's 'Finding Dory' reunites everyone's favourite forgetful blue tang, Dory, with her friends Nemo and Marlin on a search for answers about her past. What can she remember? Who are her parents? And where did she learn to speak Whale?

3) Absolutely Fabulous

Now showing in all theatres. 

Edina and Patsy are back and still oozing glitz and glamor, living the high life they are accustomed to. Things go wild after they're blamed for a major incident at an uber fashionable launch party, becoming entangled in a media storm and paparazzi warefare.

4) Suicide Squad

Now showing in all theatres in both 2D and 3D. 

A team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains are assembled, provided with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and sent off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity.

5) Embrace

Now showing in select theatres.

Australian body image activist Taryn Brumfitt's directorial debut follows her as she explores the global issue of body loathing.

6) Jason Bourne

Now showing in all theatres.

Matt Damon returns to his most iconic role in Jason Bourne, which finds the CIA's most lethal former operative drawn out of the shadows.

7) The Legend of Tarzan

Now showing in all theatres in 2D and 3D.

Tarzan has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom.But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.

8) Lights Out

Now showing in all theatres. 

When Rebecca left home, she thought she left her childhood fears behind. Growing up, she was never really sure of what was and wasn't real when the lights went out … and now her little brother, Martin, is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that had once tested her sanity and threatened her safety.

9) Central Intelligence

Now showing in all theatres. 

The story follows a one-time bullied geek who grew up to be a lethal CIA agent, coming home for his high-school reunion. Claiming to be on a top-secret case, he enlists the help of the former "big man on campus", now an accountant who misses his glory days.

10) Bad Moms

Showing from August 10 in all theatres.

A woman with a seemingly perfect life - a great marriage, overachieving kids, beautiful home, stunning looks and still holding down a career. However she's over-worked, over committed and exhausted to the point that she's about to snap.

11) Hunt for the Wilderpeople

​Now showing in select theatres. 

A national manhunt is ordered for rebellious kid Ricky and his foster uncle who go missing in the wild New Zealand bush.

12) The BFG

Now showing in select theatres.

It's the adaptation of Roald Dahl's 1982 novel. It follows Sophie, the Queen of England and The BFG on an adventure to capture the evil, man-eating giants who have invaded the human world.
