Vani
Vani (Georgian: ვანი) is a town in Imereti region of western Georgia, at the Sulori river (a tributary of the Rioni river), 41 km southwest from the regional capital Kutaisi. The town with the population of 4,600 (2002 est.) is an administrative center of the Municipality of Vani comprising also 43 neighbouring villages (total area – 557 km²; population – 34,000, 2002 est.).
Systematic archaeological studies (N.Khoshtaria, O.Lortkiphanidze) carried out in the Vani environs since 1947 revealed the remnants of a rich city of the ancient power of Colchis. The name of this ancient settlement is still unknown but four distinct stages of uninterrupted occupation have been identified. The first phase is dated to the 8th to 7th centuries BC. In this period Vani is presumed to have been a major cultic centre. The second phase - end of the 7th and beginning of the 6th to the first half of the 4th century BC - is represented by cultural layers, remains of wooden structures, sacrificial altars cut in the rocky ground, and rich burials. It is assumed that on this stage Vani was the centre of a political-administrative unit of the kingdom of Colchis. The third phase covers the second half of the 4th to the first half of the 3rd century BC. It is represented largely by rich burials, remains of stone structures. To the fourth phase (3rd to mid-1st centuries BC) belong defensive walls, the so-called small gate, sanctuaries and cultic buildings (temples, altars sacrificial platforms), and the remains of a foundry for casting bronze statues. It is assumed that in the 3rd to 1st centuries BC. Vani was a templar city. According to the archaeological data, the city was destroyed in the mid-1st century BC. Subsequently, Vani declined to a village and was officially granted a status of a town only in 1981.

The full length of the water ways is 165 kilometers almost the entire huge city including 44 various size islands can be cover by both.
The basic area of the second largest city of Russia is 600 square kilometers and the number of its inhabitants is approximately 5 million, city transport runs on 600 bridges among them foot bridges, vehicular bridges and railway bridges.

Osaka is known as Japan's kitchen and for good reason! It's loaded with some of the best and cheapest restaurants and street stands anywhere.
Enter Dotonbori, the old entertainment district of Osaka that's also ground zero for cheap and easy to find street food. John Daub and Kevin Riley, a long-term resident of Osaka take their stomachs down the Dotonbori strip. We also introduce a very Osakan word: "Kuidaore" meaning eat until you drop!
Street food on Dotonbori:
★ Takoyaki
Called "octopus ball" by newbies to Japan, these round treats normally come topped with a tangy thick soy sauce, Japanese mayonaise, and dried fish and seaweed. Some shops go even further adding half boiled eggs or mountains of green negi!
A bowl of 6 to 8 balls costs 380 to 450 Yen.
Recommended shop: Creo-Ru Takoyaki
★ Kushikatsu
Another Osaka specialty you can find at a few stands. It's skewered and battered meats and vegetables deep fried until golden. pTake each skewer and dip it once in the special bath bin near the table or register. You won't be disappointed! Vegetables start at 60 yen and meats at 150 yen. Large Tiger Shrimps can go for 380 yen for one! Prices are listed on the menu outside the shop.
★ Gyoza
Osaka has it's own variety of dumplings. What's different? It's cheaper and made in Osaka! 180 yen for 6 gyoza!
★ Ramen
A few shops serve up hot bowls on the street side. Get a ticket at the vending machine for about 600 yen and enjoy!

જેસલ-તોરલની કથા બહુ જાણીતી છે. કચ્છની ધરતીનો કાળો નાગ એટલે જેસલ જાડેજા અને સતી તોરલની લોક કથા આજે પણ એટલી જ લોકપ્રિય છે.
આ લોકકથા છે 14મી સદીના મધ્ય સમયની.
The story of Jesal and Toral is worth knowing, for it is full of romance, folk wisdom and inspiring. It is mid-14th century. Jesal was a very strong and powerful man who was a dacoit. He used to rob and kill people and harass them no end.
Once he was attracted by the mare of high pedigree, 'Tori' of one Bhagat named Sansatiyaji, a well-known person of the Kathi caste. Also he looked forward to snatch away Sansatiyaji's wife, Toral, who was extremely beautiful.
One night when Jesal entered the stable to steal the mare, sensing the presence of a stranger she broke away from the peg and fled to her master. The guards brought her back and pegged her rope to the ground near a hay stalk. It so happened, that Jesal was hiding in the hay stalk and his hand was at the place where the peg was hit. Hearing the moans of pain the king came to the stable and on seeing the dacoit asked him what he had wanted. Jesal said he had come to take away Toral.
Sansatiyaji being a Daani (donor) gave away his Toral- his horse and his wife. Toral being a devoted wife did not question about why she was being sent away.
So, now Jesal took the mare and the wife of Sansatiyaji with him.
As you travel from Kathiawad to Kutch, you have to cross the creek on the way. Jesal and Toral had now seated themselves in a boat for this purpose. On the way there was a great cyclone in the sea. The boat started rocking dangerously. It seemed that it would sink any moment. When Jesal saw Death staring at him in the face from all sides, his ego, his confidence went down crashing. He was truly frightened. His valor evaporated. His inner cowardice came to the fore, and fear began to eat at his heart.
Sati Toral could make this out, and in this delicate moment of Life and Death, she preached him the secrets of life. She pointed out the path of Truth and Goodness. He had a change of heart. The robber who was moved only by physical desires, and disregarded all but his own self, now turned into a follower of goodness and truth. His eyes were now open to the real meaning of life, The words of Sati Toral made him give up saber and instead pick up the 'Ektara' that accompanies the singing of devotional songs. The folk songs that lead this change of heart have remained very popular even today: "Paap taru parkash Jadeja, Dharam taro Sambhal re ... " and "Jesal kari le vichar ... ". These songs embody the folk wisdom and guide the lost soul to the true path of life in this world.
