Craig James (economist)
Craig James is an economist currently working as Chief Economist for Commsec. According to The Australian, James is the third most quoted man in Australian media. Completing regular media appearances in Australia and internationally, his reports such as the iPod index and State of the States are often reported upon and often called a "user-friendly" economic outlook for average individuals.
In his down time, through James' interest in athletics and weight training, he finished in the top six for the Men's Health Man of the Year 2011 competition.
History
After leaving Narwee Boys' High School in 1979, James joined the Rural bank, while undertaking his Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) at the University of NSW in 1984. Later, he completed a Master of Commerce (Economics) in 1988. James worked in branches, continuing on to Corporate, Planning and Economic Research, while the Rural Bank changed into the State Bank of New South Wales, followed by Colonial Group.
He became chief economist of Colonial Group in September 1997, later becoming chief economist at Commsec in August 2000 with the Commonwealth takeover of Colonial.
Craig James (American football)
Jesse Craig James (born January 2, 1961) is a former American sports commentator on the ABC and ESPN television networks.
Prior to becoming a sportscaster, James was a professional football player for the New England Patriots of the National Football League and for the Washington Federals of the United States Football League. He ran for a seat in the U.S. Senate in Texas in 2012, but was defeated in the first round of the Republican primary.
Early life
James was born in Jacksonville, Texas, in 1961 and grew up in the Houston, Texas area. When he was in the first grade, his parents divorced and he moved with his mother and brother to Pasadena, Texas. James has talked about growing up witnessing his mother being abused and struggling financially to support her sons.
James attended Stratford High School in Houston, where he was a star running back on their 1978 Texas class 4A championship football team, setting the single-season Texas 4A rushing record with 2,411 yards gained in 15 games. James also played on his high school baseball team and was offered a contract by the New York Yankees out of high school to play first base for them, but chose to pursue a football career instead.
