Perth Christmas Day forecast: Good BBQ weather with hot day predicted

It might be a good idea to stick the ham and turkey in the barbecue outside this Christmas Day with the temperature in Perth forecast to reach a hot 35 degrees.

And the weather leading up to Santa's arrival will also see Perth swelter with the mercury getting close to 40 degrees on Wednesday and a stinking 36 on Christmas Eve.

Around the state there won't be too many other places dipping below 30 degrees, with popular holiday spots of Busselton and Esperance expecting a maximum of 31 and 30.

If you lucky enough to be heading north, it's going to be a comfortable 32 in Broome, while in gold country around Kalgoorlie it's going to be a hot 36 degrees.

Last year, Perth city reached a Christmas Day maximum of 27.5 degrees at 1.18pm, below the forecast top of 29 degrees.

Forecasters normally have a crack at predicting the weather about 10 days out from Christmas, but were having a hard time guessing the weather for December 25 in Perth this year.

The Bureau of Meteorology said its projections were being thrown into disarray by various weather systems in the north of the state, which are proving difficult to analyse.

"There is quite a bit of uncertainty at the moment," she said.

"The weather systems in the north are giving us a divergence of information in terms of how they are going to impact on Christmas Day."

Monday: Sunny, 13-29.
Tuesday: Sunny 17-35.
Wednesday: Very hot and sunny 24-39.
Thursday: Mostly sunny 22-34.
Friday: Sunny 19-30.
Christmas Eve: Very hot 20-36.
Christmas Day: Very hot 20-35.
