The City of London is one of the oldest parts of the capitol, as it is located where London was first founded almost 2000 years ago. The City of London roughly constitutes the same area that was mostly unaltered until the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in the 18th Century. Known as the "Square Mile", the City nowadays is roughly bounded by the River Thames to the south, Chancery Lane to the west, Charterhouse Street to the north, and the Tower of London to the east. Although the old City's gates are long gone, you can still see their location in the street names. Join us on this video tour as we explore the Tower of London, Leadenhall Market, the City's financial district, St. Paul's Cathedral and more!
The Tower of London
To the east of the City you'll find the Tower of London by the River Thames. The tower was built in 1066, and the imposing building still reflects its turbulent past. In its long years, the Tower has been a fortress, a state prison, and it was also used as a place of execution. Nowadays, the Tower of London is open for visitors. You can see the crown jewels, royal armor and of course the Tower's famous ravens here. Legend says that if the ravens were ever to leave the Tower, England would fall.
Leadenhall Market in the City
Leadenhall Market on Gracechurch Street dates back to the 14th century, and is one of the oldest markets in London. Previously a meat, game and poultry market, the covered market was redesigned in 1881 by Sir Horace Jones, who created a beautiful roof structure. This, coupled with the cobbled walkways and beautiful decorations, make it a popular tourist attraction. Nowadays, you can also find clothes shops and more next to the flowers and fresh produce that are still sold here. When walking through the market don't forget to look up: you can still see the hooks on the walls where fresh produce was displayed in Victorian times.
London & the River Thames
The River Thames passes the City of London to the south and runs through the center of Greater London. The Thames used to play a vital role in London's economy. Although this has changed in modern times, the river is still an essential part of the City. To explore the city in a different way, you can catch one of the riverboat tours that navigate the Thames. From the water you'll be able to see many of London's most famous attractions, such as the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the London Eye, Big Ben, Westminster Palace and more!

Tartiflette (is a French dish from the Savoy region in the French Alps (Savoie and Haute Savoie départements). It is made with potatoes, reblochon cheese, lardons and onions.[1]
The word tartiflette is probably derived from the Arpitan word for potato, tartiflâ. " This modern recipe was inspired by a truly traditional dish called "péla": a gratin of potatoes and onions (without cheese) in a long-handled pan called a pelagic (shovel) in the Provence region of France. It was developed in the 1980s by the Union Interprofessional Reblochon to promote sales of reblochon,[2] as is confirmed also by Christian Millau (of the Gault-Millau Guide) in his gastronomic dictionary.
Tartiflette was first mentioned in a book of 1705, Le Cuisinier Royal et Bourgeois written by François Massialot and his assistant cook B. Mathieu.
The name derives from the Savoyard word for potatoes, tartifles, a term also found in Provençal. As many traditional dishes in the region the potato is a staple ingredient. Instead of the rest of nowadays France, Savoy as part of the Holy Roman Empire discovered the tubers earlier than the French. The Savoyards first heard of tartiflette when it began to appear on the menus of restaurants in the ski stations, conveying an image of authenticity and mountain terroir.
A common, related preparation found throughout the region is the Croziflette. The format of this adheres to that of the original dish in everything but the use of potatoes, in place of which are found minuscule squares of locally produced pasta, crozets de Savoie (usually made from buckwheat but sometimes durum). The name of this dish is a portmanteau of "crozet" and "tartiflette".

The City of London is a city and county within London. It constituted most of London from its settlement by the Romans in the 1st century AD to the Middle Ages, but the agglomeration has since grown far beyond the City's borders. Tower of London
The Tower of London, officially Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London, is a historic castle located on the north bank of the River Thames in central London. It lies within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, separated from the eastern edge of the square mile of the City of London by the open space known as Tower Hill. It was founded towards the end of 1066 as part of the Norman Conquest of England. The White Tower, which gives the entire castle its name, was built by William the Conqueror in 1078, and was a resented symbol of oppression, inflicted upon London by the new ruling elite. The castle was used as a prison from 1100 (Ranulf Flambard) until 1952 (Kray twins), although that was not its primary purpose. A grand palace early in its history, it served as a royal residence. As a whole, the Tower is a complex of several buildings set within two concentric rings of defensive walls and a moat. There were several phases of expansion, mainly under Kings Richard the Lionheart, Henry III, and Edward I in the 12th and 13th centuries. The general layout established by the late 13th century remains despite later activity on the site.

A city is a large and permanent human settlement. Although there is no agreement on how a city is distinguished from a town in general English language meanings, many cities have a particular administrative, legal, or historical status based on local law.

In terms of population, the largest city proper is Shanghai, while the fastest-growing is Dubai.

There is not enough evidence to assert what conditions gave rise to the first cities. Some theorists have speculated on what they consider suitable pre-conditions and basic mechanisms that might have been important driving forces.

Seen in Brick Lane Tartiflette (is a French dish from the Savoy region in the French Alps (Savoie and Haute Savoie départements). It is made with potatoes, reblochon cheese, lardons and onions.[1] The word tartiflette is probably derived from the Arpitan word for potato, tartiflâ. " This modern recipe was inspired by a truly traditional dish called "péla": a gratin of potatoes and onions (without cheese) in a long-handled pan called a pelagic (shovel) in the Provence region of France. It was developed in the 1980s by the Union Interprofessional Reblochon to promote sales of reblochon,[2] as is confirmed also by Christian Millau (of the Gault-Millau Guide) in his gastronomic dictionary. Tartiflette was first mentioned in a book of 1705, Le Cuisinier Royal et Bourgeois written by François Massialot and his assistant cook B. Mathieu. The name derives from the Savoyard word for potatoes, tartifles, a term also found in Provençal. As many traditional dishes in the region the potato is a staple ingredient. Instead of the rest of nowadays France, Savoy as part of the Holy Roman Empire discovered the tubers earlier than the French. The Savoyards first heard of tartiflette when it began to appear on the menus of restaurants in the ski stations, conveying an image of authenticity and mountain terroir. A common, related preparation found throughout the region is the Croziflette. The format of this adheres to that of the original dish in everything but the use of potatoes, in place of which are found minuscule squares of locally produced pasta, crozets de Savoie (usually made from buckwheat but sometimes durum). The name of this dish is a portmanteau of "crozet" and "tartiflette".

The City of London is one of the oldest parts of the capitol, as it is located where London was first founded almost 2000 years ago. The City of London roughly constitutes the same area that was mostly unaltered until the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in the 18th Century. Known as the "Square Mile", the City nowadays is roughly bounded by the River Thames to the south, Chancery Lane to the west, Charterhouse Street to the north, and the Tower of London to the east. Although the old City's gates are long gone, you can still see their location in the street names. The Tower of London
To the east of the City you'll find the Tower of London by the River Thames. The tower was built in 1066, and the imposing building still reflects its turbulent past. In its long years, the Tower has been a fortress, a state prison, and it was also used as a place of execution. Nowadays, the Tower of London is open for visitors. You can see the crown jewels, royal armor and of course the Tower's famous ravens here. Legend says that if the ravens were ever to leave the Tower, England would fall.
Leadenhall Market in the City
Leadenhall Market on Gracechurch Street dates back to the 14th century, and is one of the oldest markets in London. Previously a meat, game and poultry market, the covered market was redesigned in 1881 by Sir Horace Jones, who created a beautiful roof structure. This, coupled with the cobbled walkways and beautiful decorations, make it a popular tourist attraction. Nowadays, you can also find clothes shops and more next to the flowers and fresh produce that are still sold here. When walking through the market don't forget to look up: you can still see the hooks on the walls where fresh produce was displayed in Victorian times.

Tartiflette (is a French dish from the Savoy region in the French Alps (Savoie and Haute Savoie départements). It is made with potatoes, reblochon cheese, lardons and onions.[1]
The word tartiflette is probably derived from the Arpitan word for potato, tartiflâ. " This modern recipe was inspired by a truly traditional dish called "péla": a gratin of potatoes and onions (without cheese) in a long-handled pan called a pelagic (shovel) in the Provence region of France. It was developed in the 1980s by the Union Interprofessional Reblochon to promote sales of reblochon,[2] as is confirmed also by Christian Millau (of the Gault-Millau Guide) in his gastronomic dictionary.
Tartiflette was first mentioned in a book of 1705, Le Cuisinier Royal et Bourgeois written by François Massialot and his assistant cook B. Mathieu.
The name derives from the Savoyard word for potatoes, tartifles, a term also found in Provençal. As many traditional dishes in the region the potato is a staple ingredient. Instead of the rest of nowadays France, Savoy as part of the Holy Roman Empire discovered the tubers earlier than the French. The Savoyards first heard of tartiflette when it began to appear on the menus of restaurants in the ski stations, conveying an image of authenticity and mountain terroir.
A common, related preparation found throughout the region is the Croziflette. The format of this adheres to that of the original dish in everything but the use of potatoes, in place of which are found minuscule squares of locally produced pasta, crozets de Savoie (usually made from buckwheat but sometimes durum). The name of this dish is a portmanteau of "crozet" and "tartiflette".

Here it is, our pilot episode!
Why am I doing this? I travel a lot. Too much. And recently I find myself rocking up in a city that I've never been to before and know very little about. On any level. Culture, language, transport, money, food, etc. But most travel shows are an hour-long, US-centric, full of bad information, and almost exclusively aimed at tourists. So I wanted to create something different. Something aimed at the frequent traveller, something portable and short-form. Something...useful.
In our pilot episode we get you in, out, and around the wonderful city of London, England. We tell you the best way to get from the airport into the city, the best way to get around, how much things cost, and why you should ALWAYS stand on the right.
In follow up episodes we'll be adding a food and drink segment, as well as tips on how to avoid those awkward social and business faux pas.
I really appreciate you taking the time to watch this and welcome any thoughts, feedback, ideas, and suggestions for future episodes. Travel is my passion and I'm excited to share it with you.

So Hello from London! Time for a new destination. This is a city that I haven't visited in almost 4 years. So we're both very excited to be in London. And we're going to be making a little video guide. Actually a really big video guide because we plan on showing you 50 different things to do around London.
Our first stop was Trafalgar Square. This square leads to a lot of central attractions, so it's a nice place to people watch, get your bearings, and plan out where you want to go in the city.
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the Thames. It offers a bird's eye view of the city.
Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence for Britain's sovereigns since 1837. The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every year.
The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament, is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Palace along with Big Ben are two of the top London attractions that dot the city-scape.
The Tower of London sits on the north bank of the River Thames.
And that's a wrap for London! Like with any mega city, it's impossible to cover all the sights and attractions you can enjoy here, but hopefully this video will give you an idea of what London has to offer.

London is an exciting and pulsating metropolis of the new millennium, a melting pot of both people and culture and a fascinating city of diverse contrasts.
The City Of London contains the Tower, an historic landmark with a remarkable history. A mighty medieval fortress with 13 towers that throughout its 900 years, has served many functions and from the Middle Ages, it was a heavily fortified prison.
After the medieval St. Paul's Cathedral was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1666, Christopher Wren was ordered to re-build it with a dome. During the 36 years of its construction, its design was frequently altered until finally a wonderful masterpiece of church architecture was created.

The City Of London contains the Tower, an historic landmark with a remarkable history. A mighty medieval fortress with 13 towers that throughout its 900 years, has served many functions and from the Middle Ages, it was a heavily fortified prison.
