Discussing the Past Year on Newsnight - without Iain Dale
I took part in this panel discussion on events of the past year, especially alleged 'populism', on BBC NBewsnight last night. Some of you might like to watch it here:

Some of you might not. Some of you may be disappointed that my old friend Iain Dale was not on, instead of me. He certainly was disappointed, and tweeted
Booked for Newsnight earlier. Then unbooked. No complaints. But to be unbooked and replaced by @ClarkeMicah... or was it @SuzanneEvans1 ?!'
For a staunch critic of the EU who rails against the liberal elite to say he cannot think of anything good about 2016 is remarkable.
On the subject of BBC bias, is it just coincidence that the background to the set had the slogans "stop Brexit" and "Brexit is racist" positioned in such a way as to be highly prominent? I am sure, being balanced, the BBC would have ensured that opposing slogans were represented - just not where they could be seen!

Have to agree with L.Porter's comment.
This younger female Paris Lees, has me an older female despairing of her naivety on the cultural issues affecting our young women on the street..
One of the reasons, but not the main I voted to Leave, was becuase with her kind of views the problems we have experienced will get worse.
Her lack of understanding, is depressing.

This Paris individual offered nothing to the debate beyond absurdity. "Judging peole by their skin colour....racism against Poles". Most Polish people are White for goodness sake! Newsnight is now an idiot platform

Should have been an hour long and not with a bunch of lightweights, Hitchens excepted. As usual on the BBC the result of the EU referendum is linked to racism and prejudice to dismiss people who voted in favour of leaving. Climate Change also had to be blamed for something.

I love you Peter, but it's about time you stopped deriding Ukip. It wasn't pessimism and cynical articles in the Tory Mail on Sunday that got (and won) the referendum it was Dad's Army - holding meetings, knocking on doors, and linking the EU issue with the immigration issue that won the day. Dare to dream.

I think Jon Gaunt also complained about being booked and unbooked.

"These are Africans escaping Climate Change" says David Olusoga
What a pile of utter nonsense. So this is the latest spin on millions of young single men flooding north illegally. Refugees flee as families, they don't leave women, children, the elderly and disabled behind whilst they try to break into a country (and so not be able to bring their families later).
The more I see of the argument of Radicals the more I am convinced that discussion is just a distract and delay tactic whilst they continue to do whatever they wish.
Meanwhile 'Paris Lees' spoons out the usual hyperbolic drivel about how Brexit is going to lead racial conflict.

You are by far the most interesting person on this programme.
