Boy, 4, in hospital after near drowning

A young boy is in hospital after nearly drowning in a public swimming pool in Sydney.

The four-year-old was pulled unconscious from the deep end of the pool at Fairfield City Leisure Centre on Saturday afternoon.

Lifeguards revived the boy using CPR and he was taken to Liverpool Hospital.

He was kept under observation overnight and is expected to be released on Sunday afternoon after receiving a clean bill of health.

Police from Fairfield local area command are investigating the incident.
