Steve Evets (born Steven Murphy; 26 July 1959) is an English actor and musician, who found fame in the leading role in the 2009 film Looking for Eric.
Born in Salford, Greater Manchester, Evets joined the Merchant Navy after leaving school, but was kicked out after three years, after jumping ship twice in Japan and spending his eighteenth birthday in a Bombay brothel.
In 1987 Evets was stabbed through the liver, lung and diaphragm, glassed in the face and had his throat cut in a pub brawl on Mother's Day 1987. He spent time on a life support machine.
Evets briefly worked delivering pipes alongside his acting career, and as an electrician. As there was already a Steve Murphy on the books of Equity, he decided on the stage name Steve Evets, "The first thing that popped into my head was 'Steve' backwards ... so I put that on the form."
His name is a palindrome.
Evets early acting work included a street theatre company formed with two friends. He moved into theatre work, and had small roles in several television series such as See No Evil: The Moors Murders, Casualty, Life on Mars, The Cops, Shameless, and Emmerdale.
Shivani Ghai is an English actress of Indian descent.
Ghai was born in Newcastle upon Tyne to parents Davender and Shubh. She grew up in Gosforth and attended Gosforth High School. Later, she went to Derby University, where she gained a BA in film and television studies.
Ghai started her acting career in theatre in London, working for companies such as Man Mela, Rifco and Kali. She moved on to television with minor parts in shows such as Doctors, Spooks and The Bill.
In 2003 she was cast as the guest lead in an American adventure series Adventure Inc. alongside Michael Biehn. Later the same year Gurinder Chadha picked Ghai out at a script reading and cast her as the bride and best friend of Ashwarya Rai in Bride and Prejudice. After this, Ghai appeared in BBC shows such as My Hero and Sinchronicity, short films, theatre and commercials. In 2006 she was cast as Sarita Dhavi in Rai Uno's Medico In Famiglia, the popular Italian television programme, when an Indian family was added to the show. She played Sarita Dahvi, which was originally to be cast to an Italian actress of Indian descent, but one could not be found. Ghai could not speak Italian but learnt some scenes for her audition. She became part of the first Indian family on Italian television. After this, Ghai travelled to Tunisia to work on the HBO/BBC co-production House of Saddam, where she played Saddam Hussein's middle daughter Rana. The miniseries aired in September 2008.
Bernard Hill (born 17 December 1944) is an English film, stage and television actor. He is known for playing Yosser Hughes, the troubled 'hard man' whose life is falling apart in Alan Bleasdale's groundbreaking 1980s TV drama Boys from the Blackstuff. He is also known for roles in blockbuster films, including Captain Edward Smith in Titanic, King Théoden in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy and as the Warden of San Quentin Prison in the Clint Eastwood film True Crime.
Hill was born in Blackley, Manchester. He was brought up in a Catholic family of miners. Hill attended Xaverian College, and then Manchester Polytechnic School of Drama at the same time as Richard Griffiths. He graduated with a diploma in theatre in 1970.
Hill first came to prominence as Yosser Hughes, a Liverpool working class man ultimately driven to the edge by an uncaring system, in Alan Bleasdale's BBC Play for Today programme, The Black Stuff, and its more famous series sequel, Boys from the Blackstuff. His character's much-repeated phrase Gizza job ("Give us a job") became popular with protesters against Margaret Thatcher's government, because of the high unemployment of the time.

Looking For Eric is the heart-warming and hilarious tale of downtrodden Eric (Steve Evets), a postman who's life is slipping through his fingers. That is until, with a little help from his family, his mates and, believe it or not, his hero Eric Cantona, he gets his life back on track. With a cast of familiar faces such as John Henshaw (The Royle Family), Gerard Kearns (Shameless), Justin Moorhouse (Phoenix Nights) and Eric Cantona as himself. Looking for Eric will put a big smile on your face and restore your faith in the power of the human spirit.
Partially Deceased Syndrome sufferer Kieren Walker returns home to the cauldron of Roarton, but doesn't receive a warm welcome. His parents, Steve and Sue, are undoubtedly pleased to see him, but his sister, Jem, isn't so ready to pick up where they left off when Kieren died back in 2009. Meanwhile, the zombie-hating Human Volunteer Force, led by the violent Bill Macy, is ready to take action against any PDS sufferer reintegrated on their patch.
Reverend Adam is feeling the pressure of trying to fill a rundown London church - that is, until his congregation quadruples overnight. But the sudden influx of worshippers isn't down to word getting out about his wonderful sermons; there's a rumour going round that the local church school is about to get a great Ofsted report. Faced with a bunch of hypocritical parents desperately vying for his attention in the hope he'll recommend their child, Adam is tempted to trade a school place for the expensive restoration of a broken stained-glass window.
The Reverend Adam Smallbone is back and life in his London parish hasn't gotten any easier; his flock is just as demanding and his wife Alex has reached a breaking point. So when Adam unwittingly thwarts a mugging, he's tempted to bask in the novelty of being hailed a super vicar, and enjoy Alex's renewed attraction to her hero husband. But as the lie spirals out of control, Adam draws unwanted attention.
Abi Johnston, a talented young curate, comes to train at St Saviour's. Lay Reader Nigel is green with envy, and even Adam's initial enthusiasm at the prospect of someone to cover weekends off soon gives way to doubt in his own abilities as a priest when he realizes just how brilliant she is. When Colin decides his vicar needs cheering up, Adam inadvertently gets the chance to experience religious versus chemical ecstasy.
There's a hole in the church accounts and the Archdeacon's ready to pounce. Salvation appears to come in the form of a wealthy city banker who arrives at St Saviour's to join Alcoholics Anonymous. However, Adam's mind isn't on balancing the books -- con-artist Mick has arrived on the vicarage doorstep with a much bigger ask than the usual twenty quid, and Adam takes a huge risk.
Adam's decision to allow a Muslim children's prayer group to use the church for classes brings his congregation's prejudices to light. Inspired by the clear moral stance he sees in the Islamic classes, Adam decides to take a stand himself and oppose a lapdancing club threatening to open opposite the school. When he finds himself in one of the branches checking out pole dancers in the name of research, things become rather more complicated.

Interview met de Britse acteur, die samen met oud-voetballer Eric Cantona de hoofdrol speelt in de film Looking for Eric van Ken Loach. Opname interview: zondag 13 september, tijdens Film by the Sea in Vlissingen.
British actor Steve Evets encourages the production of low-budget films which, like The Blair Witch Project, may turn into box-office hits.
A typical actor's passive aggressive argument. We'd just finished shooting a short film with Steve Evets (Looking for Eric, Wuthering Heights, Rev) when a local actor Will Travis "Trevor" (Where the heart is, Casualty, This is England) turned up with his girlfriend. Will had told me he was planning to wind Steve up so I kept the camera rolling. The background is that Will should have been in Looking for Eric but Steve crashed his car filming a roundabout scene and Will's part was cut.

Steve Clark's (1971) 12-Tone Technique work for woodwind quintet, performed in a 1975 concert by The Central Oklahoma Woodwind Quintet, on the campus of Oklahoma Christian University, in Edmond, OK. Quintet personnel include: Steve Clark -- clarinet, Grace Wiley Smith -- flute, Glenn Eichler -- oboe, Martin King -- bassoon, and Mark Hellstern -- horn. *** Several old "Twilight Zone" television show still photos were used in this video, which quite effectively reflect the sounds and emotions Clark created with "Evets Kralc". The title, "Evets Kralc" just happens to be the "retrograde version" of the composer's name, Steve Clark -- being consistently true to the spirit of Arnold Schoenberg's 12-tone row technique. This piece was composed by Clark, as a 21-year-old music major at Central...
It was love at first sight
On the second of july
Met her on the third floor
Four times in one night
It was a little bit of magic
And the time stood still
She took me to another side
She got the key to my will
Tell me how could such a good thing only last....
One, two, three, four,...
Five days
Once in a lifetime
Five nights
Too good to be true
The universe is passin' by
But I can't forget our
One, two, three, four,...
Five days-sunshine-one-way-trip
Where she touched my soul
When I touched her lips
She said: "boy take me to wherever you go
Sestination anywhere"
But destiny said no
Tell me how could such a good thing only last...
One, two, three, four,...
Five days
Once in a lifetime
Five nights
Too good to be true

Five days,.... Can't you hear me?
Five nights,..... Where you are?
Five days,......Can't you feel me?
Five days,.... Just in my love!
It was so great when we were together, baby
So great when we were together
It was so great, when our days were endless, Baby
So great when we were together
Tell me how could our forever only last....
