A libretto is the text used in, or intended for, an extended musical work such as an opera, operetta, masque, oratorio, cantata or musical. The term libretto is also sometimes used to refer to the text of major liturgical works, such as the Mass, requiem and sacred cantata, or the story line of a ballet.
Libretto (pronounced [liˈbretto]; plural libretti [liˈbretti]), from Italian, is the diminutive of the word libro ("book"). Sometimes other language equivalents are used for libretti in that language, livret for French works and Textbuch for German. A libretto is distinct from a synopsis or scenario of the plot, in that the libretto contains all the words and stage directions, while a synopsis summarizes the plot. Some ballet historians also use the word libretto to refer to the 15–40 page books which were on sale to 19th century ballet audiences in Paris and contained a very detailed description of the ballet's story, scene by scene.
The relationship of the librettist (that is, the writer of a libretto) to the composer in the creation of a musical work has varied over the centuries, as have the sources and the writing techniques employed.
"Vide Cor Meum" ("See my heart") is a song composed by Irish composer Patrick Cassidy based on Dante's "La Vita Nuova", specifically on the sonnet "A ciascun'alma presa", in chapter 3 of the "Vita Nuova".
The song was produced by Patrick Cassidy and Hans Zimmer and was performed by Libera / The Lyndhurst Orchestra, conducted by Gavin Greenaway. Singers are Danielle de Niese and Bruno Lazzaretti, who play Beatrice and Dante, respectively.
The song first appeared in the movie Hannibal (2001), while Dr. Hannibal Lecter and Inspector Pazzi see an outdoor opera in Florence, and was specially composed for the movie. This aria was chosen to be performed at the Oscars in 2002 during the presentation of a lifetime achievement award to producer Dino De Laurentiis and at the 53rd Annual Emmy awards.
It was also used in Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven (2005), during King Baldwin IV's death scene and funeral.
As an homage to the films, the score was used in the final scene of the first and second season finales of NBC's Hannibal.

La Vita Nuova (pronounced [la ˈviːta ˈnwɔːva]; Italian for "The New Life") or Vita Nova (Latin title) is a text by Dante Alighieri published in 1295. It is an expression of the medieval genre of courtly love in a prosimetrum style, a combination of both prose and verse. Besides its content, it is notable for being written in Italian, rather than Latin; with Dante's other works, it helped to establish the Tuscan dialect as the standard for the Italian language.
The prose creates the illusion of narrative continuity between the poems; it is Dante's way of reconstructing himself and his art in terms of his evolving sense of the limitations of courtly love (the system of ritualized love and art that Dante and his poet-friends inherited from the Provençal poets, the Sicilian poets of the court of Frederick II, and the Tuscan poets before them). Sometime in his twenties, Dante decided to try to write love poetry that was less centered on the self and more aimed at love as such: he intended to elevate courtly love poetry, many of its tropes and its language, into sacred love poetry. Beatrice for Dante was the embodiment of this kind of love—transparent to the Absolute, inspiring the integration of desire aroused by beauty with the longing of the soul for divine splendor.

The song and video of "Jesus had'a Afro" is strictly based on facts. I am only speaking from the scripture itself. My goal is to educate, elevate and motivate through music that is honest, clever and fruitful. The image of a white Jesus, and the association of whiteness with godliness is not only historically inaccurate, but psychologically damaging. In no way is this song or video meant to be disrespectful to any race, culture or religious beliefs. Rather, this art is my attempt to rectify a dangerous mistruth." ...

Spero che la mia creazione vi piaccia baci baci
Down on your knees you cry for help
Unleashed the rage, no reprieve
What you've done is coming back around
Instant karma, appropriate I believe
Laugh out loud I beat you harder
Both hands broken you can't fight back
For years you tried to break me
Turned round no fists my odds are stacked
Strapped and abused in misery
Chewed up pissed on cast aside
No place for me in your plan for life
Learned through time to depend on you
And you ask me why I'm bitter
Placed you on a pedestal and fell
Outstayed my welcome once again
Your actions unacceptable
And you ask me why I'm bitter
Two's company, three's a crowd
Time for me, disallowed
Beaten fucked up it feels so sweet
Justice served for what you've done
Left now taped up in your defeat
Your time for repent is nigh, scum
And I see you smiling now
And you ask me why I'm bitter
You know I really used to like you don't you?
Consciousness slips away over time
