Where In Captain America Civil War Is Nick Fury?

Captain America: Civil War was jam-packed with some of our favorite superheroes, but one notable eye-patched face was missing and we’re revealing why right now! Civil War excellently offered both points of view on its subject matter, but the notoriously neutral Nick Fury was nowhere to be seen. Marvel’s newest cinematic adventure manages to balance all of the established Avengers and a few new ones into one cohesive action thriller, but surprisingly the man who worked behind the shadows of it all was missing from Civil War’s action – Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury. Having originally brought the Avengers together in the first place, Nick Fury’s place in the MCU lore is stuff of legend with the character’s appearances stretching beyond the films and into the small screen’s Agents of SHIELD. One of Nick Fury’s best attributes happens to be the ability to remain neutral and managing to keep the government and his heroes in check simultaneously, so why did he sit out their “Civil War”? In a recent interview with The Los Angeles Times, Civil War screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely revealed that they’re just as curious as anyone on the whereabouts of Nick Fury joking that they called him up and Fury left the line blinking – a humorous allusion to something Tony Stark does to officials in Civil War. Elaborating past their jokes, Markus told the Times quote, “We didn’t want him to take one side or the other because that’s not his place in the universe…He’s been the sort of parent figure to the Avengers. Let the parent go away and see if the kids can handle this.” In addition to wanting to see how the “kids”, aka The Avengers handle things on their own, Markus also says they didn’t want to repeat themselves pointing out that Fury’s character arc in The Winter Soldier already involved him not knowing where his allegiances lie and doing so again would’ve made the already long Civil War longer. When pressed further about whether audiences will see Nick Fury in the upcoming Infinity War films that the two screenwriters are also writing, McFeely responded by asking don’t we assume EVERYBODY will be in Infinity War? That’s all we need to hear and while that’s not an official confirmation of Nick Fury being in the film, it sure sounds like he will. Things may change though as the writers revealed that the scripts for the two-part Infinity War movies are still in the early stages and while they currently have all of their wants and wishes in the current draft, some things will eventually get edited out. So don’t expect “everybody” to make it in the final films, but fingers crossed for the return of Maria Hill, Happy Hogan, and Tony Stark’s robotic arm sidekick. So, who out there was bummed not to see Nick Fury in Civil War and who didn’t even notice he was missing until we brought it up? Nick Fury
Colonel Nicholas Joseph "Nick" Fury is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer/artist Jack Kirby and writer Stan Lee, Fury first appeared in Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #1 (May 1963), a World War II combat series that portrayed the cigar-chomping Fury as leader of an elite U.S. Army unit. A popular character over a number of decades, in 2011, Fury was ranked 33rd in IGN's Top 100 Comic Book Heroes, and 32nd in their list of "The Top 50 Avengers". He has sometimes been considered an antihero.
The modern-day Fury, initially a CIA agent, debuted a few months later in Fantastic Four #21 (Dec. 1963). In Strange Tales #135 (Aug. 1965), the character was transformed into a spy like James Bond and leading agent of the fictional espionage agency S.H.I.E.L.D. The character makes frequent appearances in Marvel books as the former head of S.H.I.E.L.D. and as an intermediary between the U.S. government or the United Nations and various superheroes. It is eventually revealed that Fury takes a special medication called the Infinity Formula that halted his aging and allows him to be active despite being nearly a century old.

Captain America
Captain America is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by cartoonists Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in Captain America Comics #1 (cover dated March 1941) from Timely Comics, a predecessor of Marvel Comics. Captain America was designed as a patriotic supersoldier who often fought the Axis powers of World War II and was Timely Comics' most popular character during the wartime period. The popularity of superheroes waned following the war and the Captain America comic book was discontinued in 1950, with a short-lived revival in 1953. Since Marvel Comics revived the character in 1964, Captain America has remained in publication.
Captain America wears a costume that bears an American flag motif, and is armed with a nearly indestructible shield that he throws at foes. The character is usually depicted as the alter ego of Steve Rogers, a frail young man enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum to aid the United States government's imminent efforts in World War II. Near the end of the war, he was trapped in ice and survived in suspended animation until he was revived in the present day. Although Captain America often struggles to maintain his ideals as a man out of his time with its modern realities, he remains a highly respected figure in his community which includes becoming the long-time leader of the Avengers.

Captain America: Civil War was jam-packed with some of our favorite superheroes, but one notable eye-patched face was missing and we’re revealing why right now! Civil War excellently offered both points of view on its subject matter, but the notoriously neutral Nick Fury was nowhere to be seen. Marvel’s newest cinematic adventure manages to balance all of the established Avengers and a few new ones into one cohesive action thriller, but surprisingly the man who worked behind the shadows of it all was missing from Civil War’s action – Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury. Having originally brought the Avengers together in the first place, Nick Fury’s place in the MCU lore is stuff of legend with the character’s appearances stretching beyond the films and into the small screen’s Agents of SHIELD. One of Nick Fury’s best attributes happens to be the ability to remain neutral and managing to keep the government and his heroes in check simultaneously, so why did he sit out their “Civil War”? In a recent interview with The Los Angeles Times, Civil War screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely revealed that they’re just as curious as anyone on the whereabouts of Nick Fury joking that they called him up and Fury left the line blinking – a humorous allusion to something Tony Stark does to officials in Civil War. Elaborating past their jokes, Markus told the Times quote, “We didn’t want him to take one side or the other because that’s not his place in the universe…He’s been the sort of parent figure to the Avengers. Let the parent go away and see if the kids can handle this.” In addition to wanting to see how the “kids”, aka The Avengers handle things on their own, Markus also says they didn’t want to repeat themselves pointing out that Fury’s character arc in The Winter Soldier already involved him not knowing where his allegiances lie and doing so again would’ve made the already long Civil War longer. When pressed further about whether audiences will see Nick Fury in the upcoming Infinity War films that the two screenwriters are also writing, McFeely responded by asking don’t we assume EVERYBODY will be in Infinity War? That’s all we need to hear and while that’s not an official confirmation of Nick Fury being in the film, it sure sounds like he will. Things may change though as the writers revealed that the scripts for the two-part Infinity War movies are still in the early stages and while they currently have all of their wants and wishes in the current draft, some things will eventually get edited out. So don’t expect “everybody” to make it in the final films, but fingers crossed for the return of Maria Hill, Happy Hogan, and Tony Stark’s robotic arm sidekick. Chip LaMarca, a Broward County commissioner, said that the shooter was a passenger on a Canadian flight that had checked a gun in his bag and then loaded it in an airport bathroom before opening fire on the crowded Fort Lauderdale Airport on Friday, according to The Associated Press.
