Triple M's move to bring Robin Bailey and her "strong female fanbase" might not work out for the "male-skewed" station, according to Australian Radio Network national content director Duncan Campbell.
"I don't think it will benefit them in perhaps the way they think it will, but I don't see Robin moving to Triple M causing a decline in their ratings," he said.
"I've always said that Robin is very talented, she's larger than life, but just didn't seem a natural fit based on her fan base."
ARN's 97.3FM came out on top in the last ratings survey, and while recently dumped Robin Bailey was part of that winning team, Mr Campbell has confidence in her replacement, Gold Coast announcer Bianca Dye.
"We're tremendously excited by Bianca Dye joining and believe that will give the show something fresh," he said.
"Bianca certainly brings a broader appeal and slightly more of a male appeal as well.
"In terms of another cycle it's really looking positive for that breakfast show going forward."
Mr Campbell said not to read too much into the first ratings results for 2017, as ratings will "ebb and flow" for all the stations thanks to the shake-up of breakfast presenters.
"Obviously Robin fans will move and I suspect some people who aren't fans will move off Triple M as well," he said.
"There will be what you call audience churn, and that will happen over the first few surveys of next year.
"To judge 2017 on survey one will be very premature and we certainly wouldn't be doing so."
For her part, Robin Bailey is simply happy to put everything behind her and focus on her new job.
Sarah Lock, of Workplace Law Group representing Robin Bailey, said Bailey was simply happy to put everything behind her and focus on her new job.
"Ms Bailey has enjoyed 10 years at ARN and is looking forward to the next challenge," Ms Lock said.
"Ms Bailey cannot be responsible for comments, thoughts or opinions made by the media including social media in relation to her time with ARN and her new future direction with Triple M.
"She has endured a tumultuous couple of years with the loss of her husband and is now just concentrating on focusing on her boys, preparing herself for her new appointment with Triple M in 2017 and putting everything behind her."
