Cebu Pacific

Cebu Air, Inc., operating as Cebu Pacific, is a Philippine low-cost airline based on the grounds of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Manila Terminal 3), Pasay City, Metro Manila, the Philippines. It offers scheduled flights to both domestic and international destinations. Its main base is Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila, with other hubs at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Clark International Airport, Kalibo International AirportFrancisco Bangoy International Airport, and Iloilo International Airport.

The airline is a subsidiary of JG Summit Holdings. Cebu Pacific is currently headed by Lance Gokongwei, presumptive heir of John Gokongwei, the chairman emeritus of JG Summit. As of January 2013, The company has 3,297 employees. 2,565 were from operations, 429 from the commercial departments, and 303 from the support departments. In October 2010, the airline completed an IPO of 30.4% of outstanding shares. Cebu Pacific carried 12.3 million passengers in 2012 and is now the largest carrier in the Philippines.

Cebu

Cebu (/sɪˈbuː/, /siːˈbuː/ or /sɛˈbuː/; Cebuano: Lalawigan sa Sugbo, Filipino: Lalawigan ng Cebu; Tagalog pronunciation: [seˈbu, sɪˈbu]) is an island province in the Philippines, consisting of the main island itself and 167 surrounding islands and islets. Its capital is Cebu City, the oldest city and first capital of the Philippines, which forms part of the Cebu Metropolitan Area together with four neighboring cities (which comprise Danao City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City and Talisay City) and eight other local government units. Mactan-Cebu International Airport, located in Mactan Island, is the second busiest airport in the Philippines.

Cebu is one of the most developed provinces in the Philippines, with Cebu City as the main center of commerce, trade, education and industry in the Visayas. Condé Nast Traveler Magazine named Cebu the 7th best island destination in the Indian Ocean-Asia region in 2007, 8th best Asian-Pacific island destination in 2005, 7th in 2004 and in 2009, with popular tourist destinations such as Mactan Island and Moalboal. In a decade it has transformed into a global hub for furniture making, tourism, business processing services, and heavy industry.

Pacific Air

Pacific Air was an American indie pop band formed in 2012. The band consisted of brothers, Ryan and Taylor Lawhon. The band was previously known as "KO KO".

History

The Lawhon brothers formed KO KO in 2012. They released three songs on Bandcamp and, a week later, received a record deal from Republic Records. Due to the number of other groups using the "KO KO" moniker, the group changed its name to Pacific Air and began work on their first EP.

In October 2012, the group released the Long Live KOKO EP. The record received critical acclaim, as did the EP's lead single, "Float". "Float" saw a rise in popularity following a flurry of Hype Machine success and a number of remixes including Ra Ra Riot, RAC, TheFatRat, Robert Delong and Sound Remedy. Shortly after the release of the EP, Pacific Air embarked on several tours, opening for bands such as Passion Pit, Walk the Moon, Two Door Cinema Club, Ra Ra Riot, and Atlas Genius. During this time, they have also been promoting their debut studio album, Stop Talking, which released on June 11 2013.

Production company

A production company provides the physical basis for works in the realms of the performing arts, new media art, film, television, radio, and video.

Tasks and functions

The production company may be directly responsible for fundraising for the production or may accomplish this through a parent company, partner, or private investor. It handles budgeting, scheduling, scripting, the supply with talent and resources, the organization of staff, the production itself, post-production, distribution, and marketing.

Production companies are often either owned or under contract with a media conglomerate, film studio, entertainment company, or Motion Picture Company, who act as the production company's partner or parent company. This has become known as the "studio system". They can also be mainstream, independent (see Lucasfilms), or completely independent (see Lionsgate). In the case of TV, a TV production company would serve under a television network. Production companies can work together in co-productions.

Pacific Ocean

The Pacific Ocean is the largest of the Earth's oceanic divisions. It extends from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Southern Ocean (or, depending on definition, to Antarctica) in the south and is bounded by Asia and Australia in the west and the Americas in the east.

At 165.25 million square kilometers (63.8 million square miles) in area, this largest division of the World Ocean—and, in turn, the hydrosphere—covers about 46% of the Earth's water surface and about one-third of its total surface area, making it larger than all of the Earth's land area combined.

The equator subdivides it into the North Pacific Ocean and South Pacific Ocean, with two exceptions: the Galápagos and Gilbert Islands, while straddling the equator, are deemed wholly within the South Pacific. The Mariana Trench in the western North Pacific is the deepest point in the world, reaching a depth of 10,911 metres (35,797 ft).

The eastern Pacific Ocean was first sighted by Europeans in the early 16th century when Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa crossed the Isthmus of Panama in 1513 and discovered the great "southern sea" which he named Mar del Sur. The ocean's current name was coined by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan during the Spanish circumnavigation of the world in 1521, as he encountered favourable winds on reaching the ocean. He called it Mar Pacifico, which in both Portuguese and Spanish means "peaceful sea".
