Travel tips: Two weeks in Europe, what cities should you visit?

FOLLOWING A LONDON CONFERENCE IN FEBRUARY I'LL BE EXPLORING EUROPE FOR TWO WEEKS WITH MY WIFE. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON PLACES TO VISIT? , WE'VE TOURED ITALY BUT IT'S OUR FIRST TIME IN LONDON. C. PAHL, LOFTUS

This is a perfect time to visit the great cities of Europe. Cold and drab, certainly, but that keeps the crowds at bay. The museums, churches, galleries and all the other wonderful cultural institutions are yours without the crowds and queues that plague them in warmer months, and that's a joy killer joy-killer. You'll most likely find some great deals on accommodation as well, and you just might hit the winter sales. With two weeks in hand you could fit in three or four of these cities and my choice would be London, Paris,  Amsterdam and for something completely different, Ghent, which keeps your travels within a compact area, all easily accessible by train. Prepare for cold and wet weather and get set for a cultural feast.
