Video: The US Consumer Product Safety Commission wants to make sure Americans don't burn down their homes when cooking their Thanksgiving turkeys, because apparently that's a danger. The agency just released a new safety video showing what happens when you improperly fry a turkey.

Video: Here's a dopey animation from Sean Charmatz that imagines a world where every random object has a cute face. That means soup dumplings cling on to the paper when they get picked up, marshmallows enjoy a satisfying dip in hot chocolate, a glass pane closes its eye while getting washed and a Post-It note gets accidentally split apart. It's like Sausage Party with cruder animations but less crude jokes.

Video: Even if there is too much CGI in movies these days (and there is), let's be thankful that the CGI we're bombarded with looks good. Or, at least, it looks so much better than the utter crap computers spat out back in the '90s. God, that era of CGI was awful. Diane Bullock edited together this clip of CGI footage to show how bleak things were back then. Do you remember how bad the aeroplane crash scene from Air Force One was? Or how silly Kurt Russell looked in the surfing scene in Escape From LA? It was hilarious.

"Verrückt will be decommissioned — closed permanently and the slide removed from the tower," a statement to the Kansas City Star from the park read.

Video: That’s it. I’m leaving the country. Planet Earth II isn't available in either the US or Australia yet, I can't in my right mind live here knowing that there are other people in this world enjoying the soul lifting freedom that comes with seeing all this beyond gorgeous footage of our world and every creature in it. Just watch this clip from the latest episode, "Jungle", showing glow in the dark fungi sprouting up in a time lapse. It's unreal.

Aspartame — the artificial sweetener found in drinks like Diet Coke — is probably not good for you. If you believe otherwise, I admire your commitment to self-delusion. A new study published by a team of investigators at Massachusetts General Hospital in Applied Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism found a possible reason aspartame doesn't help you lose weight — oh sorry, haven't you heard? Like most things in society, diet soft drink is probably a giant scam.

NBC shared its first promo for its Wizard of Oz-inspired fantasy series Emerald City, and it has all of the elements you'd expect (a tornado, witches) with some major updates added in. The Dorothy character is an adult, crashes into Oz via cop car and appears to spark up a romance with... uh, is that the Scarecrow?

Apple has embraced the mono-port. With the new MacBook Pro, the Cupertino company has scrapped the myriad of ports on the previous generation of Pros and fully embraced USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 (the two use the same port type). Combined, USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 are an extraordinary interface that's super fast.
