Hilary Duff has hit back at her critics after being slammed for kissing her four-year-old son on the lips.

On Monday, the 29-year-old star posted a sweet snap to Instagram and Twitter of herself at Disneyland, with her little boy, Luca. Captioned, "Happiest place on earth! We love Disneyland!" the photo featured the pair clad in Mickey ears - and sharing a kiss.

While many of Hilary's 10 million plus followers thought the mother/son photo was "adorable" (and rightly so!) not all of the comments were positive.

Some criticised the young mum for kissing Luca on the lips, writing that it was "inappropriate" and "confusing".

"You should not kiss your son like that," one commenter wrote, adding "it's not healthy."

The Younger star's picture also received a backlash on Twitter, one tweeter even labelling the moment, "creepy".

Other fans, however, leapt to Hilary's defence, sharing that they, too, kiss their children on the lips.

Hilary wasted no time addressing the hurtful mum-shaming, posting an update to her social media accounts on Tuesday. Slamming the "warped minds" of the commenters who expressed judgement about her parenting, Hilary wrote, "For anyone commenting that a kiss on the lips with my four-year-old is "inappropriate" go ahead and click a quick unfollow ..."

Well said.

Sadly, Hilary isn't the only celebrity in recent times to have drawn criticism for kissing her little one on the lips.

Earlier this year, trolls attacked Victoria Beckham after she posted a photo of herself kissing her five-year-old daughter, Harper.

Happy Birthday baby girl 🙏🏻💕 We all love you so much 💜💜💜 X @davidbeckham @brooklynbeckham kisses from mummy X

In a heart-warming gesture of support, Victoria's son, 13-year-old Romeo, took to Facebook to share the sweet message, "I still love my mother's kisses".

Other mums also joined in, sharing their own photos and firing back against the hateful comments:

What do you think? Do you kiss your children on the lips?
