Argentina (i/ˌɑːrdʒənˈtiːnə/; Spanish: [aɾxenˈtina]), officially the Argentine Republic (Spanish: República Argentina), is a federal republic located in southeastern South America. Sharing the bulk of the Southern Cone with its neighbour Chile, it is bordered by Bolivia and Paraguay to the north; Brazil to the northeast; Uruguay and the South Atlantic Ocean to the east; Chile to the west and the Drake Passage to the south.
With a mainland area of 2,780,400 km2 (1,073,500 sq mi), Argentina is the eighth-largest country in the world, the second-largest in Latin America, and the largest Spanish-speaking one. Argentina claims sovereignty over part of Antarctica, the Falkland Islands (Spanish: Islas Malvinas), South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. The country is subdivided into twenty-three provinces (Spanish: provincias, singular provincia) and one autonomous city (ciudad autónoma), Buenos Aires, which is the federal capital of the nation (Spanish: Capital Federal) as decided by Congress. The provinces and the capital have their own constitutions, but exist under a federal system.

Scientists have discovered a mysterious island in Argentina that rotates on its own axis. The landmass at the center of the island, is called ‘The Eye’. It is located in swampy marshes of ‘Parana Delta’ in Argentina’s north. Scientists say the island has existed since at least 2003. It’s around 118 meters in diameter, and sits on a pond of water, which is clear, cold and in deep contrast with its surrounding area. New findings suggest the circle not only rotates on its own axis but is also leaning in various sectors on the wall of the outer circle that contains it. Amid the devastation, a cheap and enormously addictive drug called paco — a variation of crack made from cocaine residue, baking soda, and sometimes even crushed glass and rat poison — started to take hold, especially among young people in urban barrios. Today, 13 years after the crisis, Argentina's economy is once again in trouble, and the widespread abuse of paco continues. VICE News traveled to Argentina and talked to paco manufactures and users, along with activists and government authorities, to find out why so little has been done to curb the problem, a...

A political scandal has erupted in Argentina over the mysterious death of special prosecutor Albert Nisman. The 52-year-old was found dead in his apartment on January 18, the day before he was scheduled to testify before Congress that Argentina’s President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner — along with members of her government — had attempted to cover-up a deal that protected the perpetrators of the 1994 bombing of a Buenos Aires Jewish cultural center. As theories regarding Nisman’s death continue to swirl, VICE News traveled to Buenos Aires to investigate the mystery. The town of Epecuen in Argentina was once a busy lakeside tourist resort. But in November 1985, after a succession of wet winters, the lake overflowed, breaking through the lake wall and into the town. Residents evacuated safely, but the town remained underwater for almost 30 years until the water evaporated. Now the ruins of the town have emerged and residents can walk around their former home again. This week, hundreds of business leaders from more than 60 countries will be in Buenos Aires as Argentina is hoping to attract billions of dollars in foreign investment. It’s being called ‘a mini Davos’. CCTV America’s Joel Richards reports.
Beef is an integral part of the Argentine identity, economy and way of life. Historically, Argentina has been one of the world’s largest producers and consumers of beef. Yet in recent years the country has slid down the list in terms of production. That’s something the new government aims to reverse with pro-agriculture economic policies and hopes that the lifting of United States import restrictions can help reactivate the industry. Correspondent Joel Richards examines the beef business of Argentina for “Americas Now.” From an upscale Buenos Aires steakhouse called “Steaks By Luis” where the perfect “asado” is made, to the grasslands of Sante Fe where cattle ranching farms retain tradition by being passed down through the generations, Joel travels the country to show us the importance ...

Argentina's new government is not wasting any time delivering on its campaign promises to reform the economy. The government of free markets advocate Mauricio Macri was only sworn in last week. Yesterday, it lifted deeply unpopular restrictions on buying US dollars. That puts an end to a convoluted monetary system that made it difficult for businesses to operate and spawned a booming black market.

The Buenos Aires city government, under right-wing mayor and presidential candidate Mauricio Macri, is cutting back on public spending. Health care spending was cut in 2015 from 23% to 18% of the city budget, which will affect the poorest strata of the population, as those with money can afford private hospitals. Public hospitals, meanwhile, face a myriad of deficiencies in infrastructure and personnel hiring. ¡Bienvenidos a Mendoza!, the “The Land of Sun and Good Wine.” Located on an arid plateau, Mendoza was built on the irrigation channels, or “acequias,” that were originally dug by the indigenous Huarpe people. These waterways also feed snowmelt from the Andes to Mendoza's vineyards, which produce about the majority of Argentina’s wine today. Noteworthy Spanish colonial buildings in Mendoza include the Banco Hipotecario Nacional, the domed Espacio Contemporáneo de Arte, in a former bank, the monumental Teatro Independencia, and the central Basilica de San Francisco. Ist es was wir denken
Oder ist es was wir sagen
Warum könnt ihr uns nicht leiden
Warum müssen wir euch ertragen
Warum könnt ihr nicht ruhig sein
Warum könnt ihr nicht schweigen
Warum müßt ihr immer wieder hetzen
Den Haß vorwärts treiben
Refrain:
