This is a list of Wikipedia's major topic classifications. They are used throughout Wikipedia to organize the presentation of links to articles in its various reference systems, including Wikipedia's overviews, outlines, glossaries, lists, portals, indices, and categories.

An alternative top-level category to begin navigation of articles, based on a smaller number of initial thematic classifications, is Category:Fundamental categories.

The top level of Wikipedia's overall category system, including both articles and other project pages, is Category:Contents.

NOTE: The purpose of this category is to group major topic classifications in one place, for greater ease and for reference of users and editors of Wikipedia. This category is not intended to adhere to a strictly hierarchical structure. Therefore, please do not remove some of the contents of this category merely because they appear in one or more categories that are already included here.
