The Division Series was implemented in 1981 as a result of a midseason strike, with the first place teams before the strike taking on the teams in first place after the strike. After 1993, it was implemented for good when Major League Baseball restructured each league into three divisions, but their next playing was in 1995 due to the cancellation of the 1994 playoffs. In 1981, a split-season format forced the first ever divisional playoff series, in which the New York Yankees won the Eastern Division series over the Milwaukee Brewers (who were in the American League until 1998) in five games while in the Western Division, the Oakland Athletics swept the Kansas City Royals (the only team with an overall losing record to ever make the postseason). The Yankees have currently played in the most division series in history, with eighteen appearances.
From 1998 to 2011, the wild-card team was assigned to play in the division winner with the best winning percentage (outside of their own division) in one series, and the other two division winners met in the other series. However, if the wild-card team and the division winner with the best record were from the same division, the wild-card team played the division winner with the second-best record, and the remaining two division leaders played each other. Beginning with the 2012 season, the wild card team that advances to the Division Series was to face the number 1 seed, regardless of whether or not they are in the same division. The two series winners move on to the best-of-seven ALCS. Home field advantage goes to the team with the better regular season record, except for the wild card team, which never receives the home field advantage.

Pick MLB winners, Get Money: http://bit.ly/1LR1u48 Just one win away from the American League Championship Series and with ace Aaron Sanchez poised to pitch next, the Blue Jays come home firmly in the driver’s seat of their ALDS showdown with the Texas Rangers. After winning a 10-1 blowout on Thursday, Toronto used the long ball Friday afternoon to batter Texas starter Yu Darvish and then hang on for a 5-3 victory and a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five American League Division Series. While the champagne may be chilling at the Rogers Centre, the Jays will remember that Texas won the first two games of the 2015 ALDS on the road before losing the next three to Toronto. "I learned something last year," said Jays manager John Gibbons. "You know what, you’ve got to win three games, They’ve got a...

Make Money Betting Baseball: http://bit.ly/1LR1u48 Now that was a counter-punch. From the Blue Jays to the Rangers. From Jose Bautista to the Lone Star State and mama don’t let your cowboys grow up to be babies. For the sucker roundhouse laid on Bautista by a 22-year-old punk nearly five months ago. For the deliberate beaning of Bautista, by an ex-felon reliever, in that same game — Bautista’s last at-bat in the last regular-season tango between these two mutually-loathing clubs. For the endless obsession with Bautista’s iconic bat flip from a year ago and you’d think it was a no-fair kick to the gonads, so bitterly have the Rangers mythologized that episode and demonized the player. Gall has seeped like a pathogen into the very marrow of their bones. A 10-1 wallop at Globe Life Park by...
2016 ALDS Game1 [Cleveland Indians] vs [Boston Red Sox] Indians lead series 1-0 2016.10.06
Look, simply said, I'm a pioneer of my area
Wrote my first line on some paper, I thought I'd share it witcha
I got a mic in 10th grade 'cause of a homie
Who didn't need it, I needed it 'cause I ain't have no money
To buy a mic of my own, I wasn't rich like the other kids
But my mama tried, she ain't doubt me like the others did
Made an account on MySpace so I can publicly
Share my mentality with others, all they did was fuck wit me
Lies on top of lies, all these comments used to fuck wit me
But I had someone at all times, I was luckily
Able to make a change in my game, I switched my flow up
Spit my first sick verse, felt like I had thrown up
I had the voice of a boy, I'm finally grown up
Got my name around but I don't feel like I am known enough
Glorification's my dedication in progress
Tryna be remembered, damn it's a long process
I hope my music will help me become a better man
'Cause there's so many things about me I don't understand
& if you think you know me then you got the upper hand
Cryin' to my grandma reachin' out for an elder's hand
I swear I was depressed when she left us
But God has kept me strong since she left, I'm glad He blessed us
There's only one thing that I regret
Not going to say good bye in the hospital 'fore she left
Every time I take step pass her door, I think see her
Maybe that's my conscious tellin' me that I now need her
However I'm happy that God freed her
I know grandpa was smilin' the moment that he had seen her
I know they're up in heaven & they're happy now
Life just kinda hit me really hard wit a crappy smile
How many people can tell you that they enjoy life?
