The man behind the music of Gladiator and The Da Vinci Code to play in Perth

The composer behind some of Hollywood's greatest scores including Gladiator and Pirates of the Caribbean will play a one-off concert at the Perth Arena in May next year.

Hans Zimmer is well known for his music in The Lion King, Inception and Batman: The Dark Knight among many others, will bring his masterful composing to Perth on Wednesday the 10th of May, 2017 at Perth Arena.

Hans Zimmer embraces inner rock star

Celebrated composer Hans Zimmer embraces his inner rock star for upcoming international tour, "Hans Zimmer Revealed." The Academy Award winner also announced his first US performances.

The Golden Globe and Oscar winner is often regarded as one of the best and most recognised composers of our time, and has promised to make a lot of noise when he comes to Perth.

"I have to go and to surround myself with the most amazing musicians you probably ever see assembled on a stage," Mr Zimmer said.

"Finally, Zimmer is leaving the room."

The 59-year-old German born composer has a decorated history -  and if you've been to the movies in the last few decades you are almost guaranteed to have heard some of his iconic tunes.

Some of his musical scores include the movies Face/Off, Gladiator, The Last Samurai, Pearl Harbor, The Da Vinci Code and more recently 12 Years a Slave and Interstellar as well as popular video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Zimmer also had the honour of featuring in 'Video Killed the Radio Star' by The Buggles, which was the first music video to be aired on MTV in 1981.
