Trailer: Logan
Logan and Professor Charles Xavier must cope with the loss of the X-Men when a corporation lead by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world leaving it to destruction.
But 2017's Logan is Jackman's last Wolverine film after playing the Marvel Comic character for a staggering 17 years.
Reynolds and Australian-born Jackman became friends after starring together in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and now Reynolds wants the pair to reunite for a standalone feature.
"What we're gonna have to do is convince Hugh," Reynolds, 40, told Entertainment Weekly.
"If anything, I'm going to need to do what I can to get my internet friends back on board to help rally another cause down the line."
Reynolds, who is married to actress Blake Lively, spent more than 10 years trying to get a Deadpool movie off the ground. He succeeded with February's Deadpool, which became the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, making $1 billion ($US760 million) at the international box office.
Deadpool and Wolverine are enemies on-screen but the actors who play the Marvel anti-heroes couldn't be anymore fond of each other.
Reynolds professed his love for Jackman, 48, in the same interview.
"Hugh Jackman is one of the best human beings," he said.
"Part of the reason I want to do a Deadpool-Wolverine movie is not just because I think the two would light the screen on fire, but I genuinely love the guy."
While Jackman is yet to comment on his friend's new campaign, he tweeted Reynolds just a few days ago in response to a skit of Reynolds kissing talk show host Conan O'Brien.
"Stepping out on me are ya [sic] mate. Where has the bromance gone?" he wrote, adding that Reynolds was 'the wind beneath his wings'.

Jackman's final Wolverine feature, Logan, hits Australian cinemas on March 2, 2017, and shows the X-Men mutant as a fallen, wounded hero.
Reynolds "internet friends" have responded to his plea, with one fan tweeting Jackman: "No one would be mad if you changed your mind" and made a Wolverine vs Deadpool film".
Come on @RealHughJackman take @VancityReynolds up on his idea of a deadpool/wolverine movie!! The world needs it!!

No one would be mad if you changed your mind & made a Wolverine vs Deadpool film, @RealHughJackman. Even if it contradicts events in #Logan.
